5 Most Effective Ways To Delay Your Periods Before Your Wedding

Your wedding, apart from being very special, can also be very stressful. Add to that, the tension of your periods, and your wedding experience can be ruined. No woman wants anything to spoil this special experience for her, including her periods.

The good part is that there are some products available in the market as well as some natural remedies that make it possible to delay your periods without any side effects. The question here then is- what can a woman do to delay her periods? We bring you here some suggestions that are safe and effective.

#1. Try oral contraceptive pills

The oral contraceptive pill is one of the most effective ways of delaying your periods. However, one needs to remember that using oral contraceptive pills for delaying your periods is only a ‘once in a while’ option. Using them too often can cause side effects. Take these pills only on the advice of a doctor. Do not take these pills back to back, for more than three months. “For this method to work, you must start taking the pills a few days after your last periods. If you start them just before the periods, they will not work,” says Dr Swati Dighe, gynaecologist at a leading hospital.

Before taking any of these, remember that they have side effects and they are not a scientifically proven remedy. Do not use this as a way to prolong the delay of your periods because repeated use can mess up your cycle severely. Another popular periods delay pill is Norethisterone. Aarti Gulati, who was expecting her periods just before her wedding day, opted for this. She says, “I started this medication three days before my periods were supposed to come. I had to take it three times a day and I took it for about a week. After I stopped taking it, my periods started three days later.”
