Do you ever wonder what would happen if the tables were turned and instead of women, men have to keep Karva Chauth fast for their better halves? And more importantly, how would YOU FEEL if your husband decides to keep Karva Chauth fast for you? This year, five husbands [the creme de la creme of their species], informed us about their decision to keep this fast for their wives in honour of their lifelong commitment and love towards each other.
Let us read about these five Samaritans who have taken it upon themselves to break away from the mould of this age old tradition of celebrating Karva Chauth. After all, like one of them very good-naturedly said “Why should girls have all the fun?”
You all must remember him from one of his many mimicry acts from the National Award winning movie, Filmistaan. The seasoned actor, who also has Yash Chopra’s movie Jab Tak Hai Jaan under his belt, married his college sweetheart, Nasreen, on December 27, 2003. And, even though the couple faced a lot of troubles while getting married, [Nasreen’s parents had a problem with Shairb being two inches shorter than their daughter], they managed to convince everyone and got married.
In Sharib’s words:
"On December 27 this year, we will celebrate our 12th wedding anniversary, and our love and bond is as strong as ever. Whatever I have managed to achieve in life, a big credit for that goes to my wife Nasreen. And, I will be forever thankful to her for being in my life."
When asked by one of his friends whether he would ever keep Karva Chauth fast for his wife, this is what the actor had to say:
"Karva Chauth to humne kabhi rakha nahin par agey kabhi aisa mauka aaya toh apni begum ke liye main bhookha reh sakta hoon".
And this year, he actually made it come true by keeping the fast of Karva Chauth.
His wife, Nasreen is quite taken aback by Sharib's gesture and cannot hold back her happiness.
“I love Sharib for his simplicity and his ability to pleasantly surprise me, especially when after 12 years of marriage, I thought I knew everything there is to know about him. And now, he keeps Karva Chauth ka vrat for me. I am like bowled over.”
Well, the Hashmis are going to have one happy Karva Chauth together. After all, it is their first ever!

And after four years of marriage, Agastaya has decided to join his wife, Lipi in keeping the Karva Chauth fast.
In Agastaya’s words:
"It’s been a roller coaster ride with her. We are exactly opposites of each other. I am lazy she is active, I am clever she is dumb, I am soft-spoken she is loud, I love her and she hates the fact that I only "love" her and not "Madly love" her. God only knows what is the difference!"
On Karva Chauth, this witty creative director who works in the media industry had these pearls of wisdom to share:
“I only started keeping fast because I don't want my wife's sufferings to end before mine.”
