41-Year-Old Mahira Khan Calls 2nd Pregnancy Unimagined, Says It's 'Harder' Than The First One At 24

The actress got married to Ali Aksari in 2007, and welcomed her son Azlan when she was in her 20s. Her first marriage didn't work out and ended in 2016. Years later, in 2023, Mahira gave marriage a second chance and tied the knot with businessman Salim Karim.
Now, almost three years after that, Mahira is expecting her second child. The gorgeous actress announced the same on her social media, and she also debuted her baby bump at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF). She also talked about being 'nervous' about revealing her pregnancy at TIFF and discussed the difference she feels between her two pregnancies, the first being at 24 and the second at 41.

Mahira Khan opted for a beautiful saree from Aafrinish by Niazi. The saree was in a dark hue and featured intricate work all over. Mahira teamed her saree with a classy embroidered dupatta as well. With glam makeup, a loose braid, and statement earrings, Mahira finalised her look. The Raees actress sat for an interview with Images Dawn recently, and was asked if she was nervous about revealing her pregnancy at TIFF.
To this, the actress replied with 'yes and no'. She revealed that she's a private person and thus bringing something personal public surely made her apprehensive a bit. She mentioned that she was worried about her clothes, as doing a red carpet while being pregnant is totally different. However, eventually the actress realised that at this stage, she's now more 'free' and embracing it rather than hiding.
Mahira Khan talks about her second pregnancy and shares that it's harder
In the same interview, Mahira Khan talked in detail about her second pregnancy. She mentioned that when she was first pregnant, she was in her 20s, and it had innocence; however, being pregnant in her 40s, according to the actress, is a bit different. Mahira mentioned that she's a different person now than she was in her 20s. Speaking more about the same, Mahira said:
"The last time I was pregnant I was 24. I’m 41 now, so I’m literally a different woman … emotionally, physically, in every possible way. Pregnancy has been different this time around. At 24, I think I went through pregnancy with a certain innocence. I was excited, my health was great, and perhaps I didn’t think too much about everything that could happen. I just went with it.
The actress also shared that her second pregnancy is physically harder, while emotionally she's more self-aware. Mahira stated that she is someone who's always working or travelling; however, now there are times when her body doesn't allow her to do what her mind wants to do, so there has been an adjustment. Emotionally, as she's more self-aware, she's more worried too, knowing this is precious and fragile.
Mahira Khan said that she already had a life that was very much in motion. The actress has a grown-up son, and she has her own work, so she kind of had a vision of what her life must look like at this age. However, her second pregnancy was something that she didn't imagine would happen.
She added that this pregnancy taught her about 'surrender' and accepting that she doesn't have to have everything figured out, and that life often brings surprises. To quote Mahira Khan:
"I have a grown-up son. I have my work, my routines, my independence. I had a version of what I thought this stage of my life was going to look like. To suddenly find myself starting this journey again after all these years has required a real emotional adjustment as well. You imagine a lot of things for yourself and for your life, and this wasn’t necessarily one of the things I had imagined at this point. But we plan and then God plans, and of course His plans are supreme."
