Maureen Wilson was born on November 20, 1948, in Kolkata, India. Soon after her birth, her family moved to England and lived in West Bromwich, Birmingham. After shifting to England, Maureen’s father started a steel factory business. Earlier, he used to work as the chief of the Calcutta police. Maureen grew up with her younger sister, Shirley Wilson. Maureen pursued a career in nursing and became a trained nurse.

In 1966, Robert Plant crossed paths with Maureen Wilson at a concert by singer Georgie Fame. While the concert got cancelled, the meeting changed the duo’s life. However, in 1977, Karac died of a stomach infection. At the time, he was just 5 years old.
