The White House press secretary, Karoline Leavitt, made an old comment, 'shots will be fired,' which grabbed instant attention as a shooting incident had taken place.
It was on Saturday, i.e. April 25, 2026, when a gunman opened fire outside the ballroom during the White House Correspondents Dinner. The incident took place nearly 20 minutes later when Donald Trump and Melania entered the Washington Hilton Ballroom.
If a report by The Associated Press is to be believed, five to eight shots were fired, and no official statement was released instantly until the President released one, roughly 30 minutes after the incident. As the shooting incident has been grabbing the attention, it's the White House press secretary, Karoline Leavitt's, past remark that has been grabbing the attention.
Just before the White House Correspondents Dinner (WHCD), Karoline Leavitt was seen giving an interview, wherein she asked people to watch as it would be a classic 'Donald Day Trump'. She also mentioned that the President will bring the heat, and some 'shots will be fired'. This comment is now grabbing attention with the recent firing incident at the White House Correspondents' Dinner (WHCD).
To mention, Karoline Leavitt's comment about 'shots' was just a way of saying that Donald Trump's speech might have scathing political remarks or humour. However, with the incident taking place, this comment, which didn't carry a literal meaning, has been making waves.
Speaking of Karoline Leavitt, she's pregnant with her second baby. It was on April 24, 2026, when the White House press secretary revealed to the reporters that she was about to welcome her baby in May 2026, and she was soon starting her maternity leave. She said:
"This will likely be my last gaggle for some time. As you can see. I'm about ready to have a baby any minute, so I will see you guys very soon. I know you'll be in very good hands with my team here at the White House. And I know all of you have the president's phone number personally, so I have no doubt that you will have a shortage of statements and news from this building while I’m gone."

It was on April 25, 2026, when the shooting incident took place, in the presence of the President and others. Donald Trump, JD Vance and others were unharmed. In a statement, Trump revealed that the shooter has been 'apprehended'. As per the President, they are guided by the Law Enforcement, who will take the decision shortly. Reports claimed that after the shooting happened at the White House Correspondents' Dinner, the gunman was detained and shot and killed. If a report by TMZ is to be followed, the gunman began shooting at the metal detector and didn't get through it. The room was filled with journalists who were celebrating, and it was exactly when the gunman opened fire, creating a tense atmosphere.
Speaking of the suspect, it was reported by CNN that the shooter was a 30-year-old man from Los Angeles. On the other hand, Fox News and New York Post columnist, Karol Markowicz has identified the shooter as Cole Tomas Allen. The columnist shared the details on X (Twitter), stating that the individual is from Torrance, California. The tweet from Karol Markowicz could be read as:
"The attempted shooter at the White House Correspondent's Dinner is 31 year old Cole Tomas Allen from Torrance, California and he is in custody."
