When Calls the Heart Season 13 finale is a beautiful blend of lovely unions and emotional goodbyes. The finale episode shows 'Elizabeth' getting engaged to 'Nathan'. It was 'Nathan' who went down on one knee to propose to his ladylove, and their proposal was nothing less than a fairytale. It is worth mentioning that 'Nathan' had been trying to propose to 'Elizabeth' for a while, but things kept getting in the way.
'Nathan' takes 'Elizabeth' to the top of Hope Valley's famous water tower and gives her an exquisite ring with four stones representing 'Nathan', 'Elizabeth', 'Allie' and little 'Jack', showing they are already one family. For those unaware, 'Allie' is 'Nathan's' adopted niece, whom he raised as a daughter and 'Jack' is 'Elizabeth's' biological son from her first marriage. When 'Nathan' asks 'Elizabeth' to marry him, she soon kisses him back. 'Nathan' and 'Elizabeth's' proposal was all things romantic.
The people of the Benson Hills, including Mayor 'Maisie Hickam' and 'Gwendolyn', who had been staying in Hope Valley after a terrible fire destroyed their town, return home now that rebuilding has begun. The biggest surprise of When Call the Heart Season 13 comes at the very end with 'Abigail Stanton's' return. In the final scene, a car arrives in Hope Valley. 'Abigail' steps out, looks around with a smile, and says, "It's good to be home."
Like 'Nathan' and 'Elizabeth', 'Lucas' and 'Edie' also have a union. They choose each other. 'Lucas' announces that he will not serve another term as governor and tells 'Edie' that she inspires him and makes him a better person. Meanwhile, 'Edie' informs 'Lucas' that she is moving to New York for several months due to work-related commitments.
Then 'Lucas' asks 'Edie' if he can also accompany her to New York, and that’s when 'Edie' kisses him, confirming they are starting a romantic future together. The season 13 finale episode ends with 'Elizabeth' saying that life always has hardships, but after difficult times, hope always returns—just like spring follows winter.
Season 14 will be a bag full of surprises. While 'Lucas' and 'Edie' will begin their relationship in New York City, the audience will get to see 'Elizabeth' and 'Nathan's' beautiful union after their dreamy engagement.
