Donald Trump Jr. is currently making headlines for his engagement with his girlfriend, Bettina Anderson. They exchanged rings at the White House Christmas party hosted by the US President, Donald Trump. Donald Trump Jr. was married to former model, Vanessa Trump for 12 years. The couple shares five children, Kai, Donald III, Tristan, Spencer and Chloe. However, their seemingly happy marriage came to an end in 2018. In March 2018, former model, Vanessa Trump filed for a divorce from Donald Trump Jr., citing an 'uncontested' proceeding. Soon after their separation, the couple issued a joint statement regarding the same. The couple got married on November 12, 2005 and have 5 children. In their joint statement, the duo shared that they would always have tremendous respect for each other and their families. They mentioned that they have five children and called them their 'top priority'. They concluded the statement by requesting everyone to respect privacy. The statement can be read as:
"We will always have tremendous respect for each other and our families. We have five beautiful children together and they remain our top priority. We ask for your privacy during this time."
Soon after the separation of Donald Trump Jr. and Vanessa Trump made headlines, a source close to the Trump family suggested that the couple was overwhelmed and couldn’t cope with the extreme pressure of their public life due to political issues and legal investigations. The former model reportedly felt suffocated by the increased security measures following her ex-father-in-law’s election.
On the other hand, Donald Trump’s eldest son, Donald Trump Jr., became isolated and distant amid the controversies around the Trump organisation and the Russia investigation involving the US President. While speaking with the reporters in the Oval Office in 2024, Donald opened up about the possible reason behind their divorce. He was quoted as saying:
"I happen to think the relationship with my son ... was hurt very badly by the witch hunt that went on - Russia, Russia, Russia. But Vanessa and Don had a very good relationship. They have incredible children, five incredible children, all good athletes, all great students."
According to a report by Business Insider, Donald Trump Jr. began dating former Fox News host, Kimberly Guilfoyle in April 2018. Their budding romance was backed by Donald Trump Jr.’s ex-wife, Vanessa. In June 2018, she shared a tweet and slammed the people who criticised Kimberly for allegedly causing trouble to Vanessa’s marriage with Donald Trump Jr. She mentioned that they have separated for over 9 months and respect each other’s decisions. She highlighted that they focus on raising their five children. Her tweet can be read as:
"The lengths people will go to attack a woman simply because she’s dating Don. We’ve been separated for over 9 months and respect each other’s decisions & privacy. We’ll focus on raising our great kids. It would be nice if the press did the same rather than obsess over our private lives!"
According to a report by US Weekly, American singer, Aubrey O’Day, claimed that she and Donald Trump Jr’s had a romantic relationship, while he was married to Vanessa. They reportedly met in 2011 on The Celebrity Apprentice, where the American singer was a contestant. Their relationship allegedly lasted until March 2012, when Vanessa reportedly discovered the duo’s emails. According to a report by Hollywood Reporter, fans later guessed that Aubrey’s song, DJT, had a connection with her relationship and breakup with Donald Trump Jr. This alleged affair was one of the reasons that paved the way towards Vanessa and Donald Trump Jr.’s divorce, as per Hollywood Reporter.
