He expressed his anger over celebrities being trolled mercilessly for their looks. After actress Katrina Kaif’s appearance during the Ganpati celebrations at the Ambanis, she was trolled for her post-pregnancy look. Salman addressed it in the episode and gave a fitting response to the haters.
Many celebrities backed Salman Khan's approach to online trolling, but Vivek Oberoi’s response raised many eyebrows. During a conversation with IANS, when the actor was asked about Salman’s stand on trolling, Vivek backed the Tere Naam actor and said:
“Trolling karna bhi nahi chahiye, trolling negative cheez hai, positive kaam itne hain life mein karne ke liye, kya negative mein pade ho.”
During the weekend episode of Bigg Boss 20, Salman Khan pointed out the social media culture of trolling. The actor revealed that he, too, had faced such trolling, including being called "budha" on social media, while some users also mocked his new bald look. Salman also indirectly hit back at those trolling Katrina Kaif over her post-pregnancy weight gain. Without naming the actress, he said:
"Everyone puts on weight after getting pregnant. When she returns to films, she will get back in shape. She wants to spend time with her family."
In a fitting response, Salman slammed trolls who body-shamed him by removing his T-shirt and showing off his toned physique. He revealed that his new bald look was for his film and also linked it to the recent death of one of his close friends. Salman’s take on the matter earned him a lot of applause; however, Vivek Oberoi's support for the actor showed that he had ended the 23-year feud.
Vivek Oberoi’s fallout with Salman Khan is one of the most controversial episodes in Bollywood’s history. The whole fiasco started after Salman Khan’s breakup with actress and former Miss World Aishwarya Rai. She later reportedly started dating Vivek. Aishwarya and Vivek’s relationship rumors did not sit well with Salman, who reportedly called Vivek and threatened him.
Things took an ugly turn when Vivek held a press conference and spoke about the threatening calls he received from Salman Khan. Vivek also revealed that Salman called him 41 times and accused him of having physical relationships with many leading actresses of Bollywood. He also alleged that the actor had threatened to kill him. Soon after, Vivek faced the consequences of going against Salman. The actor stopped getting work in the industry, and Bollywood boycotted him.
When Vivek appeared on the first season of the talk show Koffee With Karan, host Karan Johar asked whether he was dating Aishwarya Rai. The actor admitted it by saying ‘yes’. In the same conversation, Karan asked Vivek about his press conference against Salman Khan and how the media bashed him. To this, Vivek said the episode had major repercussions on his life. Vivek was quoted as saying:
"I didn't had anything against Salman Khan. In fact, I liked the guy. I thought he was quite interesting when I met him before. But yeah in terms of the way he behaved and within the framework of my personal life at that time, trying to protect the lady in my life. I did what I thought was right."
