They were considered the most-loved couple, but revelations like Rashmika asking Vijay to get married to her 100 times, and him still not proposing to her, left people extremely annoyed.
A video has been going viral from the second episode of Karan Johar's talk show, Koffee With Karan 9. In the clip, Vijay revealed that Karan wanted to know if he had proposed to her, so he revealed that after they got married, he felt like Rashmika should have a proposal, as she wanted it.
Vijay revealed that they got married in December 2025, and in January 2026 they were in Italy, where he thought of proposing to her. But his conversation soon diverted to the rings he had given Rashmika, and he stated that people showed the wrong rings. He said:
"It's not in me, but then we got married in December, and in January we were in Italy, and suddenly I felt like I didn't want her to not have it just because it is not me. So I wanted to do it in Italy with the rings. But I got annoyed with the fact that people showed some rings that she had on her hand for a shoot and called them engagement rings. I am not annoyed by things, but it is the thing that's the ring I would buy; it insults me. So these are the rings; please show them the rings. These are the sets of rings that I got her because this is my style."
When Karan asked if Vijay proposed to Rashmika after their wedding, he replied with a no and shared that he did it on the first night of their wedding when they were in Udaipur for their sangeet. He said:
"No, I did it on the first night after we got married. We were in Udaipur for my sangeet. After my sangeet, all our friends came, and I wanted to do it in front of them, and that's when I got on my knees just because I was like, I don't want to take this moment."
Netizens expressed their opinion, as they noticed that there was no need of showing Rashmika's proposal ring just to prove his point. The user wrote, "Bhaiiii he sounds like a narcissist. He’s like - mene socha propose kar deta hu bechari khush ho jayegi and showing off the rings like a naya naya ameer."
A second one commented, "I don’t know why average-looking men get this superiority complex when they get married to a beautiful girl, and on top of that, he is showing attitude to that girl only, as if he is doing some sort of charity by marrying her. How shameless he is."
A third one pointed out how Vijay made it all about him and gave her a ring because it was affecting his image. The user noted that Rashmika, who is not seeing her worth, wrote, "It's all about him. He gave her that ring finally because it was affecting his image. She really settled for someone not seeing her worth."
