Rebecca's death was confirmed by her family, noting that she passed away peacefully at 1:15 p.m. She was surrounded by her loved ones in her final moments. As the news of her medical aid in dying (MAID) surfaced, fans shared their condolences with her family.

Social media creator Rebecca Luna made the tough decision to end her life through medical assistance in Canada due to her diagnosis of an early onset of Alzheimer's. She probably didn't want to live the rest of her life depending on her family. Rebecca first shared her Alzheimer's diagnosis in April 2025 and had been sharing updates about the same through TikTok videos. In her final video, she revealed the reason for taking the drastic step.
Rebecca shared that she has been feeling like a stranger in her body in what has now become her final weeks of life. She felt "terrible" to live an uncomfortable life and thus resorted to medical aid in dying (MAID). The social media influencer was also an advocate of MAID. According to her, there was nothing wrong with taking charge of one's own life and making hard choices when needed.
Notably, Rebecca previously decided to go through the procedure in early August, but the rapid deterioration of her condition made her push the date ahead by a week. She couldn't bear the pain the early onset of Alzheimer's caused her and thus decided to end her life of suffering sooner. Additionally, she revealed the doctors have told her she only has about five to seven years before her cognitive ability declines dramatically. On July 22, 2026, she shared the last update on her condition, stating:
"Prior to the dates changing for the last year and a half has been legally and medically not my choice. But for the last two weeks I've been making the decision...And it's a hard decision to make, because I'm living in a body that doesn't feel comfortable, safe, good, nothing. It feels terrible. And so the idea of waiting two weeks felt like too much."
Rebecca Luna kept her personal life away from her spotlight. Her public persona mainly revolved around her lifestyle videos and updates regarding her Alzheimer's diagnosis. Not much is known about the TikToker's family except that she is survived by two adult daughters, the elder of which was named Maya, as per her GoFundMe page.
Notably, Rebecca set up the page to raise funds for her funeral and related costs as she didn't want to burden her loved ones with the expenses. Regarding that she stated:
"I've been a single mama [proudly] all my life so my lovely followers suggested I do a go fund me for the end of life expenses so I don't leave my loved ones behind with that responsibility [on top] of their own grief. All blessings and well wishes are warmly appreciated and I love you all. I couldn't have come this far without you."
Rebecca's statement also revealed the fact that she has been a single mother for as long as she can remember. It hints that she has been separated from her partner long back and her immediate family consisted of only her children. The dedicated mom, who felt "really weird and vulnerable" during her Alzheimer's journey, kept pulling through for over a year, likely for the sake of her kids.
Nothing can be more painful than choosing voluntary death, but the 48-year-old showed immense strength and chose dignity in her final decision.
