Valerie Perrine passed away last month on March 23, 2026. The actress was 82 years old at the time of her death. She built a big fan base with her performance as 'Eve Teschmacher' in Superman, released in 1978, followed by its sequel in 1980. Apart from that, Valerie had a successful journey on the small screen at the same time. Valerie Perrine’s death was first announced by a friend of the actress, Stacey Souther, who shared a Facebook post on March 23, 2026. The post was shared through Valerie’s official handle on the platform with a photo, saying that Valerie battled Parkinson’s disease with a lot of courage and compassion. The caption reads that Perrine never complained about her issues, and she was an inspiration as she lived her life to the fullest.
Valerie’s death certificate was recently obtained by PEOPLE on April 8, 2026 (ET). It revealed her cause of death, which was an acute cardiopulmonary arrest. Apart from that, dementia was also one of the reasons leading to Valerie’s demise, as per the Los Angeles Department of Health. Notably, Parkinson’s disease started the chain of health issues that were reported to be Valerie’s cause of death.
Although Valerie Perrine was known to everyone for being featured in Superman, she was featured in many other projects. Valerie spent a portion of her childhood in Japan, since her father, Kenneth, was serving in the US Army as a lieutenant colonel. Valerie enrolled at Camelback High School in Phoenix and later joined the University of Arizona. Before coming to the entertainment industry, Valerie worked as a dancer at the Stardust Hotel in Las Vegas.
Valerie Perrine later shifted to California and was approached by an agent, who arranged to click a few photos of the actress. This eventually led to a meeting with director George Roy Hill, following which she appeared on Slaughterhouse-Five in 1972. She was then cast in some television movies, such as The Couple Takes a Wife, Lady Luck, and Steambath. Apart from these, she gained recognition for portraying 'Honey Bruce' in the biographical drama film, Lenny, released in 1974.
Valerie played the lead role as 'Liz Green' in Leo & Liz in Beverly Hills in 1986. She was even featured in a few episodes of shows like Nash Bridges and Lights Out. Valerie continued appearing in a lot of other TV shows like CBS Summer Playhouse, Ghostwriter, Burke’s Law, Homicide: Life on the Street, Just Shoot Me!, Family Law, Grounded for Life, and more.
