It was in the middle of 2025 that Korean media reports confirmed that Mina Sue Choi will be on Single's Inferno Season 5. She has been one of the most discussed contestants in the Korean dating series. Mina has had international exposure, and her academic background details have often been discussed by varied media platforms. Mina Sue Choi was born back on February 22, 1999, in Sydney, Australia. She had spent her childhood there before she moved to South Korea when she was seven. Mina's upbringing took place in many countries, including Canada, the United States, and China. She had a global perspective and then did her higher education at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign in the United States. She was the runner-up in the 2021 Miss Korea pageant, and the dog mom reportedly also works as an intern at a famous company. She went on to compete alongside Miss World, Miss Universe and Miss International.
Single’s Inferno Season 5 contestant, Mina, received a lot of fame in global beauty pageants. She was the runner-up in Miss Korea 2021 and later made history by winning Miss Earth 2022 in Manila in November 2022. This was announced by the Miss Earth organisation. This was a big victory for Mina, and it was South Korea's first win across four international beauty pageants. Mina had beaten 85 other contestants worldwide at the pageant's coronation event, which was held in Manila, Philippines. Mina did remember a time when she was feeling extremely nauseous and felt like giving up before the Miss Earth event. In her words:
"Since the day before the coronation event, I was vomiting all over the place. I thought I wouldn't make it to the competition, but I really pushed my limits. I didn't want to leave any regrets behind or disappoint those who have supported me throughout this journey. When I stood on the stage after the rehearsal, I experienced a rush of adrenaline that enabled me to stay until the end."
Mina also revealed that it was an absolute honour to represent Korea and be the country's first-ever pageant winner. There was a negative perception of beauty pageants in Korea. By winning Miss Earth, she is hopeful that the minds of people will change, and she is always ready to work hard. When asked about her winning key, she revealed that everyone can have a say about environmental issues. Mina revealed that as a third culture kid who grew up in Australia, the U.S, Canada and China, she is able to embrace the challenges of learning a new culture and approach social problems from a global perspective.
