Richa has been doing wonders with her cricket skills, which also contributed to the team's first ODI World Cup win against Sri Lanka. The Indian Women in blue did an amazing job to secure a 30-run win over Sri Lanka during the match. It was Richa Ghosh, who scored 40 in just 16 balls, contributing to the team's win.

Richa Ghosh's love for cricket began at the age of 4: A look at her career

Wicketkeeper-batter Richa Ghosh's journey in the world of cricket began at a very early age, and the credit goes to her dad, Manabendra Ghosh, a former cricketer. Richa was born in September 2003 in Siliguri, West Bengal. She was only four years old when she started accompanying her father to the club matches, and it did not take her long to join the club to play matches. Back then, the Siliguri district didn't have a girls' team, and Richa didn't mind joining the club matches and playing with the boys.

During her formative years, she was a bowler, and by the age of 14, she had already made her debut in Bengal's senior women's team and became a front-line batter. She eventually developed into a wicketkeeper of the state team. Richa made her T20I debut in January 2020, at the mere age of 16. In 2023, she was a part of India's U-19 team for the T20 World Cup.

Richa Ghosh has also played for Hobart Hurricanes in the WBBL and for London Spirit and Birmingham Phoenix in the Women's Hundred. Richa joined Royal Challengers Bengaluru in 2024 in WPL, and it was the same year that the team secured their win. Richa reportedly signed the WPL deal in exchange for Rs. 1.9 crore, and back then, speculations were rife that she and her father were in talks to purchase a house.

With the first ODI World Cup, Indian cricketer, Richa Ghosh already solidified her name as one of the prominent figures. Talking about the day they made history, bringing the World Cup home, Richa Ghosh told ANI that her first motto always remains to provide a good finish. She also mentioned that on that day, the wicket was pretty great and the balls were coming to the bat very nicely, prompting the team to make a good score. Sharing that they executed enough to score well and how their lives changed post the win, Richa said:

"Obviously, life has changed after the World Cup win. Everyone is happy, and wherever we go, we receive a warm welcome from the public, and everyone is now getting to know the names of the players in the team. People now know who is Deepti Sharma, who is Richa Ghosh and who is Shafali Verma, which is a great thing that has happened after the World Cup win."
