Here's the real story behind the real wedding during the Super Bowl 60's halftime performance, headlined by Bad Bunny. Spare wedding cards, a joke, a Zoom call and boom: it's Super Bowl!
Can you even dream of being married as Bad Bunny performs, and that too during an NFL Championship? Well, unexpected things do happen in life, and so has been the case with the couple, who broke all the headlines by getting married during the halftime of Super Bowl 60, a highly anticipated match between the Seahawks and the Patriots. The game was won by the Seahawks, and people have been delighted.
But, except for the game, another thing that kept people hooked to the screens was Bad Bunny's halftime performance, which came with Easter Eggs, including the real wedding of a couple. But how and why did the real wedding happen at such a high-stakes show? Let's rewind to look at the real story behind the same.
The couple who got married for real during Bad Bunny's halftime performance at Super Bowl 60 were Thomas "Tommy" Wolter and Eleisa "Elli" Aparico. The groom is a registered nurse, and he has been with Eleisa since 2023. The couple, in 2024, celebrated their anniversary and shared the news with their followers on social media.
It was in October 2024, when the couple exchanged rings with Thomas proposing to his now-wife at Cannon Beach, Ore. Now, coming to the story of what led them to marry during Super Bowl 60's halftime show, it was director of the Super Bowl halftime show, Hamish Hamilton, who revealed to Guardian that the couple had printed some extra cards and thought of sharing them to local business to get wedding-related perks.
They later thought they should send an invitation to Bad Bunny, as they had heard people sending their wedding invitations to the singer. Well, what happened afterwards was a surprise and (good) 'weird' for the couple. The duo received a call from Bad Bunny's team, and an invitation for a Zoom call, wherein they were told about the plan of the singer and team, which was to include the couple's wedding to the Super Bowl 60's halftime performance. As per Hamish Hamilton:
"They were like, ‘Why don’t we send one to Bad Bunny? Lots of people send wedding invitations to him, so why not,’. Bad Bunny’s office reached out, and they thought, ‘Amazing, maybe we’ll get a signed photo. But they were invited to a Zoom call, which they thought was kind of weird. An overprinting of wedding invitations led to a series of events where they wound up getting married during Bad Bunny’s performance at the Super Bowl!"
In the videos that went viral, the couple could be seen decked in white attire, and they even sealed the deal with a kiss. They were seen cutting a 3-tier cake at the corner of the stage, as Lady Gaga took the stage and blessed them with the most romantic song, Die With A Smile. So, what began as a joke turned out to be a 'Super Bowl' moment for life for the couple, as they not only got married during such a top-class show but also where Bad Bunny, Lady Gaga and other celebrities took the stage with their surprise appearances.
What do you think about the unexpected turn of events that took the couple at the Super Bowl to tie the knot?
