Prateik Smita Patil seemingly hit back at his half-brother, Arya Babbar's claim that he was using their father, Raj Babbar, for financial gain.
A few days ago, Raj Babbar's son, Arya Babbar, made headlines after accusing his half-brother, Prateik Smita Patil, of using their father for monetary gain. For those unaware, Raj Babbar welcomed Prateik with the late legendary actress, Smita Patil. Now, amid Arya's accusation, it seems like Prateik has seemingly decided to hit back at his half-brother with a cryptic post. The Jaane Tu... Ya Jaane Na actor appeared to take a shot at Arya's career in the post.
A couple of days after Arya Babbar's interview came out, where he accused Prateik Smita Patil of using their father, Raj Babbar, for financial gain, the latter seemingly hit back with the help of a cryptic post. Taking to his Instagram, he reshared a post originally shared by his wife, Priya Banerjee. The note read, "If misinformation paid bills, some people would finally be successful." Alongside the quote, Prateik also added the hashtag #IYKYK, which means if you know, you know. While neither Priya nor Prateik named Arya Babbar while sharing the post, many have been speculating that it appeared to be a response to Arya's recent remarks against Prateik.
Arya Babbar recently sat down for an interview with veteran journalist, Vicky Lalwani. There, he not only said that Prateik uses their father, Raj Babbar, for financial benefits but also claimed that he only considers Raj as his father when he needs something from him. However, whenever it came time to respect and acknowledge Raj for his contributions in front of others, Prateik always ignored him. To quote Arya:
"It’s like when your career is not doing well, and you need pocket money from dad to survive, then he is your father. When you want to live in the house that your father bought for Smita maa, then he is your father. When you want all the benefits, then he is your father. But when you have to acknowledge him and give him respect in front of society, then he is not your father. What is that?"
During the same interview, Arya also opened up about the bond that he shares with Prateik. He says that as an older brother, he loves Prateik, but when he is wrong, he is wrong. According to Arya, it is sad that Raj Babbar, who left his family to be with Smita Patil, is being ignored by his own son. He went on to add that as an elder brother, he would obviously be there for his half-brother, if he were asked if he could embrace and love Prateik in the same way, then the answer would probably be no. He said:
"As an elder brother, I love him, but when he is wrong, he is wrong, and this is where he is wrong. It is so tragic that the Smita maa, for whom my father left his family, today, Smita maa’s son is not ready to acknowledge him as his father. What could be a bigger tragedy than that? As an elder brother, I will be here for him, but if I am asked if I can embrace and love him the same way, then maybe not."
Prateik and his father, Raj Babbar, have always had a rather complicated relationship. Reportedly, his mother, Smita Patil, passed away just a few days after giving birth to him. While Prateik maintained a close relationship with his father and Raj Babbar's first family for multiple years, cracks in their relationship started firming especially after the actor decided to change his name from Prateik Babbar to Prateik Smita Patil. In fact, Prateik also did not invite his father or his family to his second wedding.
