Nancy Guthrie's case has been in focus for a while now; amid that, an uncovered bodycam footage shared online shows the Sheriff, Chris Nanos, with an undeclared gun.
It has been over four months since Nancy Guthrie went missing. The case has become more and more complicated with each passing day, and there's no clue as to her whereabouts. Amid that, a new video has surfaced online, showing Pima County Sheriff, Chris Nanos being caught with an undeclared gun.
In a video being circulated online, Pima County Sheriff, Chris Nanos, was seen being stopped and questioned by airport police after he brought an undeclared, loaded gun to the airport. The uncovered bodycam footage showed Pima County Sheriff, Chris Nanos being questioned after he brought the gun through a TSA checkpoint. The footage started making rounds online on Tuesday, June 9, 2026 (ET). Although the video appears old, it was only recently released by Fox News.
The video in question shows a cross-armed Pima County Sheriff, Chris Nanos, being asked by officers at Tucson International Airport why he brought a Glock handgun through security. To which Chris explained that he and his wife had been staying at a local resort the night before, and noticed he had the gun in his car. He elaborated that he didn't want to leave it with the valet, so he took it up with him. However, forgot about it as they rushed to the morning the next morning. He was quoted as saying:
"I didn't want to leave it in the valet, so I stuck it in that bag, the backpack, [and] took everything to the room. Got up this morning in a rush, when we were late and just threw everything here."
According to reports, Chris Nanos was not arrested or charged for the undeclared gun. However, he did miss his flight to Southern California. It was later reported that Chris had planned a vacation in Laguna Beach. The sheriff read a Miranda warning for the undeclared gun. For the unversed, Chris was pulled by the TSA agent after they spotted the gun in the X-Ray machine. They later revealed that apart from the gun, there were "five rounds in the magazine and another in the chamber."
While the Pima County Attorney's Office declined to comment on the matter, the news outlet has explained why what Pima County Sheriff, Chris Nanos did was against the rules. According to the rules, "active-duty law enforcement officers are typically allowed to fly armed if they meet federal requirements and notify the airline in advance, according to the TSA." However, critics have complained to the county board of supervisors that the sheriff was treated more leniently than the average citizen would have been.
Pima County Sheriff's Department has been handling the disappearance of Today show host, Savannah Guthrie's mother, Nancy Guthrie. The 84-year-old mom has been missing since February 2026, and people have begun to question the Pima County Sheriff, Chris Nanos and the authorities' search at large. Nancy Guthrie has been missing from her Tucson, Arizona home for 129 days. Savannah Guthrie discussed her decision to return to work one day before the bodycam footage was released.
