Patrick Stewart started taking pills after his first divorce

It was in 1966 when Patrick got married to actress Sheila Falconer. The couple soon welcomed son Daniel in 1967 and daughter Sophie in 1972. However, the couple got divorced in 1990, and it was the most traumatizing time for him. The reason behind his split from Falconer was his extramarital affair with his co-star, Jennifer Hetrick.

The divorce caused Patrick severe emotional distress since his children, especially his daughter, Sophie, were enraged at him for divorcing their mother. In his memoir, Making It So, Patrick recalled his divorce from Falconer as a ‘rough time’. He found himself dependent on pills after he lost sleep. The X-Men actor found himself “dependent on sleeping pills to get me the hours of restoration I needed to do my job properly”.

Patrick Stewart’s other marriages with huge age gaps

After his first marriage failed, Patrick married television producer Wendy Neuss, 14 years his junior, in 2000. However, within three years, the duo parted ways, and infidelity was blamed. Yes, Patrick cheated on Neuss with English actress Lisa Dillon. Patrick’s marriage didn’t end with Neuss; he later married Sunny Ozell, 38 years his junior.
