For the unversed, in the latest episode of Bigg Boss 20, Mary body-shamed her fellow contestant, Manoj Tiwari’s daughter, Rhiti Tiwari. Love Gill has called out Mary for the following, and now netizens have bashed the boxing legend.
In the last episode of Bigg Boss 20, Mary Kom was seen body-shaming Manoj Tiwari’s daughter, Rhiti Tiwari. She was sitting in the bedroom along with Love Gill and Panchayat star Aasif Khan. At the time, she was discussing with Love and Aasif how slow Rhiti was when she was told to make tea. She said, "Main khana banati hoon toh yeh aa jaati hai, mujhe yeh khana hai." According to Mary, these things are not acceptable. She called Rhiti 'moti' and also commented on how she dresses.
It is worth mentioning that Mary Kom and Rhiti Tiwari seem to be at loggerheads. During a kitchen task, Rhiti told Mary that she respects her but doesn’t know her personally. This statement didn’t go over well with Mary, and she said, "Maine medals jeete hain, poora desh mujhe jaanta hai." In response, Rhiti said that now that Mary is inside the Bigg Boss 20 house, people are getting to know how she behaves with people.
While Mary body-shamed Rhiti, Love Gill was quick to call her out. She said, "Mary Kom ji, abhi kisi ke saamne moti mat bolna, mudda uthayenge." It is worth mentioning that now that Salman Khan’s Weekend Ka Vaar segment is nearing, netizens are eagerly waiting to see the host schooling the contestants for their respective actions.
Netizens felt disgusted as Mary’s body-shaming remarks surfaced online. Many users expressed their disbelief and said that they never expected this from Mary who represented India and won medals for the country. Social media users took to the discussion platform Reddit and slammed Mary. A user on Reddit wrote:
"Thank god people are pointing this out. IDK how people are defending her by saying she is a legend. She is definitely a legend, but that does not give her any right to be so disrespectful to others. Imagine if someone calls her out for her features?"
Another user commented, "Aise sab bolne ki baat hoti hai. Apne pe aati hai to sabko aag lagegi. Agar Mary ko kisi ne buddhi, chhodo dadiji ya aunty bol diya to unko bhi aag lagegi ." A third user penned, "Moti patli ye sab se kyu kisi ko bulana hai jabki sabka apna naam hai jan buj ke kisi ko moti bolna aur bolna itna khati utna khati ye bodyshame hi hua." A fourth user shared, "I am starting to dislike Mary Kom. She's very disrespectful, comes across as narcissistic. Others have also won medals for India, but none have been so openly conceited."
Some users pointed out that in the previous season of Bigg Boss, Tanya Mittal and Neelam Giri were schooled by Salman Khan for body-shaming Ashnoor Kaur. They are expecting that this time, it might be Mary Kom who gets schooled by the host.
Mary Kom is grabbing a lot of attention with her stint on the show. In one of the episodes, she was seen telling TV actress Mahhi Vij not to bring up her past. For the uninitiated, Mary has parted ways with her husband, Onler. They called it quits after 18 years of marriage. In a recent interview with TOI, Mary shared that she wanted to create a different kind of history with Bigg Boss 20.
