Anonymous tip sparks Nancy Guthrie's search in Mexico

According to reports, Buscando Corazones Nogales received an anonymous tip. They are a volunteer organisation that helps to find missing persons in Mexico. The tip was received through a phone call, which alleged that Nancy Guthrie's remains were found in the Mariposa area near Nogales, Sonora. In fact, the tip claimed that the 84-year-old was buried in an unmarked grave near a stream close to the country's border with the U.S. In turn, the search organisation quickly started a search operation with the help of Sonora State Commission for the search for missing persons.

The volunteers, along with the authorities, searched the remote area where multiple unmarked graves were found sometime ago. Later, the search group's leader, Ramona Guadalupe Ayala Ortiz, told the Mexican newspaper, El Imparcial, that the caller had specifically claimed that Nancy's remains were buried somewhere in that area. However, despite an extensive search effort, the investigators did not find any evidence related to Nancy's grave. According to reports, they found several burial sites, but none of them contained Nancy's remains. In their words:

"We began exploring this area and found the first four bodies; however, we saw signs that led us to believe there were more people buried there, so we shared information with another group in the city, who recently reported the discovery of several positive cases."

Meanwhile, officials confirmed that Nancy's disappearance remains an active investigation, and they will follow up on any credible leads that will emerge in the case.
