Former LAPD detective Mark Fuhrman passed away at the age of 74. His death report was recently confirmed by TMZ, who revealed that Mark Fuhrman bade farewell to the world on May 12, 2026, in Idaho, where he was residing with his wife and kids after his retirement back in 1995. For the unversed, Mark Fuhrman was one of two detectives who were given the responsibility to investigate the 1994 killings of O.J. Simpson's ex-wife, Nicole Brown Simpson and her friend, Ronald Goldman, in LA.
As he passed away, the case again started to resurface. He was the one who reported having found a blood-filled glove at Simpson's home. However, his credibility came under scrutiny when his old video surfaced, and the defence raised the prospect of racial bias. Mark Fuhrman was born in 1952 in Eatonville, Washington. He was just seven years old when his parents got separated, following which his mother remarried. At the age of 18, Mark Furhman was enlisted in the United States Marine Corps, and he received training as a machine gunner and military policeman. Mark Fuhrman also served in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Vietnam War. In 1975, Mark Fuhrman left the military and joined the Los Angeles Police Academy and eventually graduated. Well, he was later promoted to detective and in 1995, he retired from the LAPD. After his retirement, Mark Fuhrman turned his career 360 degree and reinvented himself as an author.
He penned several best-selling books, such as Murder in Brentwood, Murder in Greenwich, Murder in Spokane: Catching a Serial Killer, Death and Justice: An Exposé of Oklahoma's Death Row Machine, Silent Witness: The Untold Story of Terri Schiavo's Death, A Simple Act of Murder: November 22, 1963, and The Murder Business: How the Media Turns Crime Into Entertainment and Subverts Justice. Apart from being an author, Mark Fuhrman was a forensic and crime scene expert for Fox News, and was also a host of the Mark Fuhrman Show. If the reports are to be believed, Mark Fuhrman's net worth is estimated to be around USD 1-3 million, which he built entirely from his career as a detective, author and commentator.
If the reports by The New York Times are to be believed, Mark Fuhrman was married four times in his life. He got married to Barbara Coop in 1973, and four years later, in 1977, they got divorced. Following this divorce, he again got married to Janet Sosbee. While the exact wedding year isn't known, he divorced her in 1980. Mark Fuhrman got married again to Caroline Lody.
When he retired from the LAPD, he was still with Caroline and eventually shifted to Idaho, where he led a private life. Well, Caroline and Mark parted ways back in 2000. Mark got married for the fourth time to Kelly Fuhrman, with whom, he was together till the time of his death. Mark Fuhrman had two kids, a daughter, Haley and a son, Cole. Speaking of the cause of his death, this has not been officially revealed, but according to TMZ, a close friend revealed that Mark was battling an aggressive form of throat cancer.
