Kelly Osbourne recently sat down for a conversation with The Mail and spoke at length about her sudden weight loss. When the 41-year-old was lost in grief after losing her father, she was unable to realize that she was losing weight. However, seeing her pictures before the 2026 Grammy Awards proved to be an eye-opener for her. Comparing her look to a famous horror character, she said:
"I looked like the fucking Crypt Keeper."
At the time, she was focused more on her emotional struggles than her physical weight loss. Eventually, the pictures made her realize the difference that everyone was talking about. Kelly explained that grief had taken over her mind to a level that she could not see herself objectively. Recalling how she saw her bones in the pictures, Kelly said:
"This is scary. I didn't know I looked like this. My spine, you could see every single bone. I couldn't see what other people saw because I was in so much pain. I just saw a broken person."
The Grammy Awards were held in February 2026 when Kelly attended the ceremony to witness the platform's tribute to her father's legacy. Looking back, she thinks that she was not emotionally ready to make a public appearance in that shape. To conceal her visibly thin frame, Kelly wore a wig to hide the impact of weight loss on her face. Taking the cue, her styling team also picked specific clothing to ensure it did not highlighted her weight loss. In her words:
"They knew I was going through something. I wanted to be there to support my mom and pay tribute to my father's legacy. I don't think I should have gone. I wasn't very well."
Months after the awards function, Kelly continues to process the loss, but in a slightly different manner. She is now getting ready to share her difficult experience in a planned three-part documentary series. So, viewers will get to see Kelly's journey from grief to new changes after her father's death. Kelly wants to share the story in the hope that it can help others cope with the loss of a loved one. She wants to remind those people that grief affects everyone and to normalize it in the face of societal conventions.
Despite her pain, Kelly tried her best to protect her son, Sidney, throughout the phase. She even hid the worst moments, like crying from her grief in front of him. As his mother, she ensured that there was a sense of normalcy around him. In this way, motherhood gave her the strength to pass through the most difficult periods of life.
For those who don't know, Ozzy Osbourne died in July 2025 at the age of 86. He reportedly suffered an out-of-hospital cardiac arrest and acute myocardial infarction. The Black Sabbath frontman also had coronary artery disease and Parkinson's, which created more complications, leading to his death.

But before things could move ahead, they decided to go their separate ways while focusing on co-parenting their son.
