Janhvi Kapoor is in the headlines for her recently released film, Peddi. The film was released on June 4, 2026, pan-India, and it is a sports drama. But the portrayal of Janhvi Kapoor's character 'Achiyyamma' is not loved at all. Fans are upset with the way her character has been 'hypersexualised and objectified'. Many vocally raised their voice and supported Janhvi Kapoor, who, over the years, has been bearing her heart out on the sexualisation of women.
Recently, fans spotted that Janhvi Kapoor liked a post, which slammed Peddi directors for disrespecting the leading lady in the cinema. People are bashing the director, Buchi Babu Sana and the lead actor, Ram Charan, over how Janhvi's character has been written and shown on screen. A post on Instagram by 'Recommendation Community' shared a poster of Janhvi Kapoor's look in Peddi, atop it, read, "Peddi: The Most Expensive Disrespect Ever Paid To A Leading Woman In Indian Cinema." However, the strange part which fans noticed was that Janhvi Kapoor had 'liked' the post.
The users were shocked after seeing Janhvi's like on the post. One user on Reddit bashed the director and also Ram Charan for the 'sexual assault scene'. It wrote, "Idk what Buchi Babu was thinking writing her role. It was literally disgusting to watch. Like, what the fuck was the whole tent thing? And the sexual assault by Ram Charan. Your wife is literally the owner of hospitals and always has had a voice in feminism, and you go out and make movies like that. The way we show love in our village is like this. By what? Committing sexual assault? I watched Barbells video, and he said smth like in the documentary he watched, rapists rape women cause they know that they can’t get any women any other way. “Who would wanna marry me? No one would marry me,” or smth along those lines was a literal line in the movie. Absolutely disgusting writing by Buchi Babu. Idc how much of a director's actor you are, there has to be a point where you say enough is enough and step in. Fucking hell, even Chiranjeevi watched the movie beforehand and was okay with this when he worked with Sridevi. Disgusting by all parties involved."
A second user penned, "Buchi Babu completely sexualized Janhvi Kapoor in the first half. Not leaving any part of her body untouched. Shows sexual assault, RC kissing her in the dark, and labels it as his way of showing love. It’s election season in the village Janhvi is from, so she’s campaigning for her dad. The opposition comes up with a plan to cut off her skirt, the bottom half of the saree, and buchi babu shows it falling down, doesn’t show anything vulgar, but puts the camera at her feet and shows it falling down. The villain's whole plan is to expose her and have someone take pictures and post them in the paper. Absolutely disgusting work by Buchi. B-grade director."
A third one commented, "Exactly, the whole movie and concept was really good... But how the hell did Ram Charan, Chiranjeevi accept this ?? I mean they could have written some other way as well... I couldn't even Chikiri song because of that... And all the background girls are dressed as decent village girls whereas the lead heroine is shown removing her Pallu, showing cleavage... Like the fuck man it's 2026..."
