James’ tragic death has sent shockwaves throughout the nation. James was found unconscious with a stab wound in his chest in the front yard of his Los Angeles home. The Los Angeles Police Department revealed that James was killed on June 3, 2026, in Tarzana, California. Amid this, ring camera footage featuring James' murder suspect, surfaced.
James Handy’s pathetic death is both shocking and heartbreaking. According to reports, James was stabbed to death by his girlfriend’s son, Michael Gledhill. Nothing much is known about James’ girlfriend and his son, Michael. He is currently 44. Police have arrested Michael and charged him with one count of murder. He was then transported to Van Nuys Jail. Amid this, ring camera footage has been obtained by FOX 11.
The suspect, believed to be 44-year-old Michael Gledhill, was seen strolling away from the crime scene. His movements were captured as he walked past a sidewalk in front of a neighbour's home after leaving the crime scene, before coming back to the house where James was stabbed to death. It is believed that after murdering the Top Gun Maverick actor, the 44-year-old Michael allegedly called 911 and told dispatchers, "I am the son of man, I just killed the man of sin."
Following James Handy’s death, which is part of an ongoing homicide investigation, authorities have decided to keep James’ girlfriend's identity confidential. They have refrained from disclosing her name, profession, age, or any personal information, citing concerns for her safety. As of now, the only information that is available is that James and his girlfriend were in a live-in relationship, and the lady lived at his home in Tarzana. James’ girlfriend’s son also lived in the same house. According to multiple reports, James and his girlfriend had been together for many years and had been sharing the Tarzana home long before the incident happened.
James Handy was born in March 1945 in New York City. He was a renowned American actor. James discovered his love for acting after being cast in a series of plays at university. After he discovered his passion for acting, James began studying both English and Drama. Over the years, James won hearts through his impeccable acting in both films and television shows. His career in Hollywood spanned almost five decades.
James landed his first on-screen role in 1981 in thriller, Taps after being urged to pursue acting as a career by his professors. When James was 21, he fought alongside the 196 Lightning Brigade in Tay Ninh between August 1966 and July 1967. To serve in the US Army during the Vietnam War, James’ acting career was delayed by a year. In a 2013 interview, James opened up about the harsh realities of the Vietnam War. He was quoted as saying:
"We wound up getting into heavy combat for 27 days we were in the field. It was pretty horrific. At first, when you’re over there, you’re in a combat zone and it doesn’t really register because it doesn’t seem real. You’re 10,000 miles away from home, you’re in this jungle and woods. Parts of the country were beautiful, but at night it got so dark, you couldn’t see your hand in front of your face."
