The final crimson-stained cycle that marks the end of 'IT's' cycle inside the Black Spot, or so they claim. Yes! IT: Welcome to Derry Episode 7 has a little backstory on 'Bob Gray', aka the OG 'Pennywise the Dancing Clown', and how 'IT' took his form to draw in children. Another reason why you should never trust a clown, but here we go. Episode 7 marks not only the last step before the season finale but also the loss of one of the children and the brave death of a knight. While the military has secured its first pillar, the plans have shifted to something of a national nightmare.

IT: Welcome to Derry Episode 7 puts an end to the 'Bob Gary' debate

After a long wait, we finally have the origin story of 'Bob Gary', which takes us back to somewhere between 1908 and 1935. The story starts at the carnival, where we meet 'Gray' as 'Pennywise the Dancing Clown,' who remains terrifying in human form. His set in the series is more autobiographical, as he mourns the death of his wife, 'Periwinkle', whose pictures line the walls, and the costume remains untouched on his bed. However, as the kids storm the stage during the encore, the entity, in the form of a little boy, watches from a distance. On the other hand, little 'Ingrid' has been practising her make-up for her 'Papa'.

When she shows him the bow, he bestows her the same name as her mother, 'Periwinkle'. We further find out that the circus is what this washed-up 'Gary' yearns for the most after he was kicked out. However, when he steps away for a smoke and a drink before his night performance, the entity in the boy's form approaches 'Gary' and states that children are drawn to him. The clown notes that it was weird for a child to say such a thing. Before becoming 'Pennywise', it seems that's how 'IT' drew out the victims as a child who lost his parents, and leads 'Gary' into the woods, leaving 'Ingrid' with nothing but his bloody 'R.G.' initialed hanky to remember him by.

The Black Spot massacre

Talking about the Black Spot, it takes us back to the smod of masked racists who interrupt the gathering, looking for 'Hank'. One of the gunmen called out a white girl named 'Norma' and told her, "You should be ashamed", before running out. As 'Hank' turns himself in to avoid bloodshed, the military men pull out their arms too, only theirs are government-issued. Outnumbered, the racists leave and lock everyone in, sending in flamethrowers and bullets.

In the middle of it all, 'Hallorann' sees the spirits in Black Spot, including 'Sesqui', who hunted 'IT' down centuries ago. 'IT' is attracted to the fear and appears at the scene; it is the 'Augury', the final event of 'IT's' cycle. 'IT's' first victim is 'Noreen'. 'Hallorann' also comes face-to-face with 'IT' again.

"Seeing things, Dickie? I think they see you, too."

The deaths and 'Ingrid's' return as 'Periwinkle'

After spending most of episode 6 with an enormous amount of time with 'Marge' and 'Rich', fans knew that the latter was going to die. While they find a place to hide from the fire, they end up in a kind of Titanic situation, and 'Rich' says that a knight exists to protect his fair maiden. If anything, he died not at the hands of 'Pennywise', but by protecting someone he loved.

On the other hand, the town's butcher and one of the gunmen, 'Stanley Kersh' finally meets his father-in-law, or so it seems. 'Ingrid' arrives on the scene all dressed up as 'Periwinkle' as she watches the Black Spot unfold. It was all her doing, planting 'Hank' there for the town's people to follow as she tipped off 'Bowers'. Her husband hates her outfit, but it doesn't last long, as 'Pennywise' soon turns their meeting into a meat cleaver-wielding, decapitating spree.

While 'Ingrid' is grieved about her husband dying, she is glad she got to hug her 'Papa' again. 'IT' tells her that he's going back to sleep again, and she keeps pulling at his arm like a little girl. Not used to clinginess, so 'IT' brings out the Deadlights, not killing but carting her off back to Juniper Hill, this time as a patient. She'll be there until her death; 'IT' uses her form during the 2016 cycle to scare grown-up Beverly.

The army finally finds a pillar

The aftermath of the massacre results in 'Hallorann' using 'Sesqui's' spirit to guide him and 'General Shaw' to her burial ground, where one of the pillars is located. Once they pry it open from the carapace, 'Leroy' thought they'd be moving it to make 'IT's' territory smaller. However, the plans have changed again: the army will burn it. 'Leroy' stops them right in time before 'Shaw' gives him his whack speech about using the entity to instil fear in Americans.

'Leroy' wants to stop another Civil War, with all the women's rights, race, and anti-nuclear movements that have the Greatest Generation up in arms. The pillar plunges into the lava, effectively leaving the cage door wide open now for 'Pennywise' to wake up again from hibernation. While 'Leroy' is ordered to stay on site for the finale, 'Charlotte' and 'Rose' are making a plan to move 'Hank' and his family over the border. 'Charlotte' claims that she has friends in Seattle and Montreal who can get him and his family new papers. However, will they succeed? That's a question for IT: Welcome to Derry Episode 8.
