Add BollywoodShaadis on GoogleHayden Panettiere, a well-known American actress, passed away at the age of 36. The news came as a shock, and her exact cause of death remains pending. Reportedly, the actress was found at a residence in Greenville, South Carolina, on August 16, 2026, in an unresponsive state. Emergency dispatch audio hinted at a possible overdose, while authorities confirmed that there was no foul play.
The actress, who was all set to be 37, left everyone heartbroken with the sudden news. Her fans have been offering condolences, while a certain section of netizens have been discussing her life. It was a few months ago when Hayden was busy with interviews regarding her memoir, This Is Me: A Reckoning, which was released in May, 2026. During one of the interviews, Hayden spoke about various matters, including an episode when she was fired from a beauty brand for discussing her postpartum depression.
The interview resurfaced following the report about her death, and the brand started getting the wrath once again. Neutrogena, a cosmetics brand, hired Hayden as its spokesperson and face in 2006. She worked with the brand for 10 years and was a regular attendee of the brand's worldwide campaigns. However, it was in 2016 that Hayden was fired, which she revealed was caused by her openly discussing her postpartum depression on Live! with Kelly and Michael.
According to the actress, the brand broke the longstanding contract with her for violating morality clauses for saying that PPD is something 'uncontrollable' and 'painful', which requires a lot of support for women. Appearing on Jay Shetty's podcast back in May 2026, the actress said it was the last thing she expected would happen: the brand she had worked for a decade would fire her for sharing her experience. The actress's team labeled it as 'illegal'; however, she knew she wouldn't be invited the next year. The actress said:
"When I got that call that Neutrogena wanted to fire me over that, my representative at the time said, ‘That’s illegal. You can’t do that.' And even though, you know, she saved the day that year, I know that that was going to be it; I was not going to be invited back the next year."
With Hayden Panettiere's sudden passing, the old controversy resurfaced, and the brand started facing renewed backlash on social media. On Jay Shetty's podcast, Hayden said what was even more hurtful was that those with whom she worked for 10 years didn't even reach out to check in on how she was doing after she was fired.
In her memoir, Hayden Panettiere talked about her childbirth and revealed that she was in labor for 14 hours and was in surgery for three hours after her daughter was born. The actress shared how her blood was not clotting after a C-section, which required the doctors to close the blood vessels in her uterus to prevent her from bleeding out. She had seven transfusions and a fever the entire time. Sharing her painful experience, Hayden said:
"My uterus had become infected, and the antibiotics I’d been given during labor hadn’t been strong enough to lower my temperature. When I woke up in the recovery room, I was exhausted, disoriented, and racked with pain."
The actress had to go through a tough time after delivering her baby, and she shared that the first thing she would think about after waking up was 'a drink' that time. She needed treatment, which cost her her job in Nashville, as she had to be written off. On top of that, her being fired from the cosmetics brand was 'yet another blow in a year', as Hayden shared.
