While she received a lot of awards and accolades for her work, Eva's personal life has been a mess. Eva was married to Hyder Ali Khan, who is Aamir Khan's half-brother, but it ended after years of physical abuse and trauma.
Recently, in an interaction with Siddharth Kannan, Eva Grover talked about her turbulent past and the reason why her marriage with Hyder Ali Khan fell apart, even after giving another chance. A clip from the podcast has been surfacing, wherein Siddharth questioned why she stopped sharing something in the middle.
To which Eva asked him to let it be and not discuss it on camera, but he asked her if her ex-husband wanted her to get physically intimate with other men. To this, Eva revealed that her ex-husband asked her to sleep with other men to get work when she sold off all her cars and broke her FDs to look after him. She revealed:
"Unhone aisi baat rakhi thi, bahut pressure dala tha. Kaam toh mere pass humesha tha but jo phase jis mein main ne kaam chor diya tha, mere saare FDs break krdiye the mai ne gadiya bech di sab kardiya jab second time unko sambhala. Toh unki taraf se yeh proposition aayi, 'Kya farak padta hai'."
Eva added that actresses often get these kinds of propositions and proposals to get work. She revealed that her own ex-husband asked her to do it as she has to run the home, take care of the electricity bill, and the child. And this was the end of her marriage. She said:
"Mere apne ex-husband ne kaha tha, 'Kya farak padta hai, karo, karna padega, apko ghar chalana hai, humare electric bill itna hogya hai itna hogya, bache ke liye krna hoga, ghar chalana hai.' That was the end, uske baad mai ne kabhi mud ke nahi dekha."
Further, in the same interaction, Eva shared that Hyder had schizophrenia. And she had no idea that he used to live in a chawl. She had known him barely for 18 days before marriage. However, things changed after marriage as on the third day he started hitting her during their intimate moment, and at that she wasn't able to understand what was happening. She said:
"On the third day of our marriage, I witnessed the first streak of violence. He had schizophrenia, but back then I didn’t really understand what schizophrenia meant. I barely knew Hyder. In the 18 days before our wedding, I had only seen his chivalrous side. But on the third day of our marriage, he started hitting me during our intimate moment. At that time, I couldn’t understand why it was happening. There used to be bruises. I would be shaken. My father-in-law and mother-in-law tried to make him understand. They even cried in front of him, asking why he was behaving like this."
Eva added that she would get bruised and was shaken, while her in-laws tried to make him understand and even cried in front of him to know why he was behaving like this. Evan added that Hyder used to be highly suspicious and would imagine situations that were not true.
Eva revealed that the marriage broke her heart, but the biggest pain was getting separated from her daughter. Her daughter used to live with her for three years, but then she was given to her ex-husband's family and wasn't able to see her for 10 years as she had no support.
