'Dhurandhar' has been making headlines for his powerful portrayal. However, it seems like the slain Pak cop, Chaudhary Aslam's wife is not pleased with how her husband has been portrayed in the film.
Dhurandhar has been making headlines since its announcement, and now, with Aditya Dhar's action drama streaming in theaters, the buzz is louder than ever. The film is said to draw from real-life incidents to present a semi-fictionalised account of India's war against terror in Pakistan. Dhurandhar particularly focuses on the gangs of Karachi's Lyari and features several characters based on real people, including the late, dynamic Karachi SP, Chaudhary Aslam Khan. The slain cop's role is essayed by Sanjay Dutt in the film. However, while Sanjay has done an impeccable job at the role, Aslam's widow, Noreen, has now commented upon her husband's portrayal in the Ranveer Singh-starrer.
Noreen recently appeared on the Dialogue Pakistan podcast to discuss the role of her husband, Chaudhary Aslam, in Dhurandhar. Noreen revealed that her husband had been a huge fan of Sanjay since he saw his film, Khalnayak, in the 1990s. She expressed her dismay with the portrayal of her husband in the film Dhurandhar and shared that she hoped the actor would do justice to her husband's personality. However, she did have one complaint. The film's trailer features a character describing Aslam as the offspring of the 'devil' and a 'djinn'.
During the conversation, Noreen revealed that they are Muslims, and such words were disrespectful not just towards the late Pakistani cop but also towards his mother. She made her stance on the film clear and revealed that if her husband, Chaudhary Aslam, is in any way wrongfully presented in Dhurandhar, she will take strong legal action against the film. She was quoted as saying:
"We are Muslims, and such words are disrespectful not only to Aslam but his mother, who was a simple, honest woman. If I see my husband being portrayed wrongly or any propaganda against him in the film, I will definitely take all the legal steps I can. It is strange that Indian filmmakers find no other subjects but to malign Pakistan."
Born in 1963, Chaudhary Aslam joined the Sindh Police in the 80s as an ASI and worked in several towns across the Pakistani province. In the 2000s, he was appointed to lead the Lyari Task Force in the government's crackdown on the gangs in Karachi. The Pakistani police officer is credited with eliminating several major gangsters from the region. Aslam survived an attack from the Taliban in 2011. However, he was assassinated in 2014 by the TTP, the Taliban’s Pakistani faction. Sanjay Dutt plays him in Dhurandhar, a film based on Operation Lyari and on the Indian intelligence agency's role in dismantling the terror network there.
Dhurandhar was released in theaters on December 5, 2025, and has since become the talk of the town. The film stars Ranveer as an Indian spy in Lyari. The much-talked-about film features Akshaye Khanna, Arjun Rampal, and R Madhavan in lead roles alongside Sanjay Dutt. Dhurandhar is a two-part film; the sequel is expected to be released next year. However, not many details are available about part 2. Despite mixed reviews, the film has built a positive word of mouth among the viewers, earning Rs. 99 crore net in India in its opening weekend.
