Late IAF Officer Shubham's Dad Claims Didn't Know Son Was Married, His Wife Took Rs 21 Lakhs

Well, what had started off as a mourning period for the family of a young Indian Air Force officer named Shubham Kumar has turned into a family dispute. His demise has now raised eyebrows on the distribution of finances given to the families of the martyrs. For the unversed, Flight Lieutenant Shubham Kumar was martyred in the recent Air Force crash that took place in Assam. Flight Lieutenant Shubham Kumar's family alleged that his alleged wife, Shreya Rai, went away with the compensation of Rs. 21 lakhs.

Flight Lieutenant Shubham Kumar's dad reportedly told the media that he was kept in the dark about the Rs. 21 lakh compensation that was handed to his alleged wife, Shreya Rai. Flight Lieutenant Shubham's dad, Amarendra Sharma, has questioned the process of how the compensation was given to Shreya. He shared that the family was not informed that the cheque was given. The father stated that he knew the same after returning from the last rites of his son.

Flight Lieutenant Shubham Kumar's grieving dad had then contacted the local officials, who said that the money of Rs. 21 lakhs was given to Shreya Rai. The father claimed that the family was unaware of any court marriage between Flight Lieutenant Shubham Kumar and Shreya Rai. He revealed that if a legal marriage existed, then she would have the right to avail the benefits.

For the unversed, Flight Lieutenant Shubham Kumar lost his wife when an Indian Air Force aircraft crashed in Jorhat, Assam. The bereaved father revealed that there was a lack of transparency when the family was going through pain. According to some social media reports, Shubham and Shreya were supposed to get married in 2027, but Shubham's family was unaware of this.

According to social media reports, the government legally recognised Shreya as Shubham's wife and provided assistance due to their reported court marriage. Flight Lieutenant Shubham Kumar's dad claimed that Shreya reportedly took the cheque and left for her house. She did not even come for his shraddh ceremony. The grieving father, as mentioned by Sachin Gupta stated:

"If my son had really married Shreya, then she is my daughter-in-law and also entitled to receive the cheque, but she should have fulfilled the duties of a wife as well. She took the cheque and left for her home even before the shraddh ceremony for her husband."

Netizens offer mixed reactions to  Flight Lieutenant Shubham Kumar's dad  claiming of being unaware of the officer's marriage

The matter has already made Shubham's family and the villagers in Bihar very emotional. Relatives are struggling with the death of the young officer. A user had penned on X, "Shaheed Subham Kumar must have written Shreya's name as dependent, that's when the money was received. And in defense, you can also set the ratio—how much goes to the parents, how much to the wife. Whatever Subham wrote on the paper, that's exactly what Shreya got. In my opinion, it's not right to make Shreya the villain."

Another user wrote, Bhai, I've seen so many soldiers—right when they become martyrs, their wives gobble up the entire amount, and the family just stands there watching. Her parents would have been against this marriage, that's why they must have done a court marriage. Who knows, her ma-baap might have said a lot of things to her, that's why she must have left from there."
