Angad Bedi expressed his hurt after his father, Bishan Singh Bedi, didn't talk with him for 12 years. He revealed the reason for the same.
Bollywood actor, Angad Bedi opened up about his late father, and legendary cricketer, Bishan Singh Bedi. He revealed the time when his father was so hurt that he didn't speak to him for 12 years. And the reason was that he had cut his hair short, which is the most important part of being a Sikh.
Recently, Angad Bedi appeared on Maniesh Paul's podcast and revealed his father was extremely hurt and didn't talk to him for over a decade. He revealed that his parents were from a generation where there were two sentiments — anger and hurt. When they were angry, they would curse and shout, and then they would be at ease. But when they are hurt, they choose silence.
Angad shared that he had annoyed his father a lot of time. However, the biggest reason which left him extremely upset with the actor when he chose to leave cricket, and another one was cutting his hair shot. Angad was quoted as saying:
"Our parents and that generation were different, and we are different kinds of parents. There are two kinds of sentiments: anger and hurt. When a person is angry, they’ll curse and shout, and then the sentiment is gone. But when a person feels hurt, he goes quiet. I have annoyed my father a lot. Leaving cricket was just one of the reasons. I also got my hair cut."
Angad Bedi further called it his misfortune that he had to take off his turban and called it bad luck. It left his father extremely hurt as he was a man with the utmost values. He was sad, and Angad was just 22 when he stopped talking to him. Angad revealed that he talked to him when he was 34, after watching his film, Pink. He said:
"It is my misfortune that I had to take off my turban; that is my bad luck. My father was extremely hurt, and he was sad. That’s why I think hurt is a deeper emotion than anger. He didn’t talk to me for 10–12 years. I cut my hair when I was 22, and he talked to me when I was 34. Sometimes it takes time, but he talked to me and complimented me for Pink. Told me during the premiere, ‘You’re not that bad, son.’"
Angad Bedi's father, Bishan Singh Bedi, was the most celebrated cricket captain of the Indian team. At the age of 77, Bishan Singh Bedi took his last breath. To honour him, Angad made his international debut as a sprinter in an athletics championship in Dubai in the same year his father passed away. In an interview with Bombay Times, he talked about the same and said:
"My father always said keep your head down and let your actions speak. I have been deeply inspired by his wisdom. I’m competing in this race because that’s what my father would have wanted. It’s my way of honouring him and his legacy. Sportsmanship is in my blood. And I want to do exactly what my father would have expected of me. I want to participate in this race to honour him and the values that he has instilled in me during his wonderful life. He will always be there with me as my guiding light."
