For the unversed, Sunny Hostin struggled with infertility. She has had multiple miscarriages. On August 15, 2002, they welcomed their daughter, Paloma, and on May 4, 2006, they welcomed their son, Gabriel. Sunny talked about the difficult journey and shared how she struggled for years with infertility and was ashamed of it and embarrassed for a long time.
Talking about Sunny Hostin's elder son, he is a 2025 Harvard University graduate. He used to be a football enthusiast throughout high school. He also performed music. She once shared videos of her son playing the piano. On the other hand, her daughter has been a sports enthusiast. She was named Camper of the Week at the Nike Girls Basketball Camp.
Gabriel made headlines after a bodycam video showed Sunny on the phone with police as her son, Gabriel, was stopped at Metro-North Railroad tracks in Westchester County on June 16, 2026, for trespassing. After which, she introduced herself as a co-host of The View, and a former federal prosecutor. She said:
"My name is Sunny Hostin, and I'm one of the co-hosts of 'The View ', and I'm a former federal prosecutor. That's my son. He's a Harvard graduate; he doesn't have a criminal record."
As soon as the video surfaced, netizens shared their perspective. One user wrote, "Why is this an issue? She seems calm, shook the law enforcement's hand, is engaging in conversation….she’s attempting to resolve a situation involving her son."
Another wrote, "They work for Dump they're getting paid. Don't think for a moment that this is some serendipitous out of pocket moment. It's going to be a lot more of this shit, and if he wins the midterms, they're just going to start locking people like her and her son up right there in front of the cameras. They won't even be cute or apologize for it. They're going to be vicious if they get any more power in November. They're currently shooting us on the street. Could you imagine if they get through again?"
A third user penned, "Honestly, I think it's just a celebrity or a celebrity-adjacent person getting slammed for a little bit of a do you know who I am approach to an encounter with law enforcement. But this is actually more than that and that the kid is black and, given reality, may need extra protection around law enforcement."
Another commented, "The crazy part is the cop saying 'they're not like you." They heard a call about a Black male so they decided to come over, no backup requested, they just came. Thank goodness Sunny was there. I would do the same for my son. That's scary as hell. Who knows what could've happened if she wasn't there? Why did they release the body cam video? I'm glad Gabriel is okay."
