'King' fame Akshay Oberoi opened up about how his wife refused to share bed with him after she watched him play antagonist in 'Flesh'
Famous actor, Akshay Oberoi is enjoying the best phase of his life with his back-to-back hit films and OTT projects. Currently, he is busy shooting for Shah Rukh Khan's King, which is directed by Siddharth Anand. However, it is not Akshay's first association with the director; he previously appeared in the director's web series Flesh in 2020. Recently, he talked about how his wife was left scared after he portrayed a negative character.
Akshay Oberoi is married to Jyothi Vynatheya. The couple got married on March 24, 2011, and they are blessed with a son, Avyaan. Akshay portrayed a negative role in the 2020 web series, Flash. There were some parts which were extremely hard to watch. In an interview with the Hindustan Times, Akshay talked about how he got associated with the director and said:
"He's my favourite. Mamta Anand (Siddharth’s wife, producer and co-owner of Marflix Pictures) and Siddharth Anand are like my guardian angels in this business. We had done a show called Flesh together. It stars Swara Bhasker and I, where I was the antagonist. It was one of my favourite roles, this transvestite, flesh trade owner. Khookhaar aadmi tha woh."
However, when it was pointed out that the show was extremely hard to watch, Akshay agreed, and he stated that he doesn't blame anyone. He also added that his own wife refused to share a bed with him for a lot of weeks after watching it, which is extremely difficult. He added that it was a good show. He said:
"Yeah, I don't blame you at all. My wife refused to share a bed with me for a lot of weeks after watching it. It is very difficult to watch. But it was a very good show. A lot of people never watched it. They (producers) said, ‘We really loved working with you on that. We'll do something together, we promise.’ But aise log baat karte hain industry mein yaar. No one actually comes through with that kind of thing. And they came back to me with Fighter. It was like a total 360 opposite character. Deshbhakt, masoom, innocent, like a fun loving guy. It was completely different, as in Bashir Khan, Bash. Totally different from what they gave me in Flesh."
Akshay further added that it was amazing when he got the opportunity to be part of King. He called it the most ambitious film in Hindi cinema and said that Siddharth Anand is at the top of his game. The second Mamta called him, and he instantly agreed and asked about the shooting location. He stated that he never asked them any questions or talked about the mother. It is worth adding that King is being shot in Cape Town. It features Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone in the lead roles. Also, it is Akshay's third film with Deepika Padukone after Fighter and Piku.
