During his appearance on Today on August 7, 2026, the actor revealed that he is officially back on the dating market. For the unversed, Aaron was most recently in a relationship with One Battle After Another star Teyana Taylor. Now, as Aaron confirmed that he is single, fans have become curious to know about what caused his breakup with his ex-girlfriend.
Aaron Pierre and Teyana Taylor first sparked romance rumors last year when they attended the Fifteen Percent Pledge Gala in Los Angeles in February 2025. The duo was seen together again at the Vanity Fair Oscar party. Fans of Teyana might be aware that Aaron also appeared in a trailer for her album, Escape Room, where he shared a kiss with the singer.
It was Teyana who made their relationship Instagram official when she penned a heartfelt tribute for Aaron's birthday, while posting photos from his party. Later, Teyana and Aaron also attended the BET Awards together. Speaking about her younger partner, Taylor said in an interview:
“He’s very gentle…it allows me to feel very warm and to feel safe and not be in survival mode.”
Aaron, for his part, had also praised Teyana when he joined a panel discussion for Taylor’s album launch. At the time, he commented, “I'm sure everybody knows this, but I've got to say it, Teyana is really one of the one.” The couple was even seen wearing matching outfits at events when promoting the album.
Despite their several public appearances as a couple, things between the two ended shortly after the actor attended the premiere of Teyana’s film, One Battle After Another. Back then, Aaron had said that his experience on the red carpet with her felt “so easy.” He added:
“Being on the red carpet with Teyana was a joy. And so easy to do because I was supporting someone who I love. Anything that feels right feels easy.”
Notably, the news of their split broke on December 31, 2025. Their breakup had come as a huge shock for their fans, especially considering how loved-up they always were. While details regarding their split are slim, sources close to the former couple had claimed that Aaron Pierre and Teyana Taylor broke up on amicable terms. They were allegedly facing scheduling conflicts over the last couple of months of their relationship.
With their careers being super busy at the time, both of them were constantly traveling for work. Teyana had been busy not only with her album, but also her series with Kim Kardashian, All Is Fair, as well as being nominated for a Golden Globe for her role in One Battle After Another. Meanwhile, Aaron was busy appearing on the cover of magazines and revealing his son to the world.
During his appearance on Today, host Jenna Bush-Hager told Aaron that he has been dubbed “the internet’s boyfriend” and a “heartthrob.” To this, the actor let out a hearty chuckle. He said:
“We’re all only human. I would be lying to you if I said it wasn’t warmly received. I’m very appreciative of it. It definitely makes me smile.”
When Jenna Bush-Hager promptly told him that the “ladies around here” want to know if he is single or not, Aaron replied, “I am!” However, he made it clear that despite being single, relationships are not the first thing on his mind. He said, “I’m just very locked into being the best father I can be, and being the best artist I can be.”
