Bollywood's Big B, Amitabh Bachchan is happily married to veteran actress, Jaya Bachchan. The evergreen couple is blessed with two kids, Shweta Bachchan and Abhishek Bachchan. For the unversed, Shweta is married to a businessman, Nikhil Nanda and they are blessed with two kids, Navya Naveli Nanda and Agastya Nanda. On the other hand, Abhishek tied the knot with Bollywood queen, Aishwarya Rai and the couple has a daughter, Aaradhya Bachchan. Apart from their kids, Amitabh and Jaya also share an unbreakable bond with Aishwarya and Nikhil and proof of the same is often found in their throwback interviews.
In 2007, when Jaya Bachchan appeared on the talk show, Koffee With Karan, she revealed a beautiful anecdote from her life. She mentioned how a void in her and her husband, Amitabh Bachchan's life, was created when their daughter, Shweta Bachchan was married off. And this vacuum in their lives was filled with the arrival of their bahu, Aishwarya Rai into their home. Further, Jaya mentioned that every time her husband used to see their daughter-in-law, his eyes used to light up and said:
“Amitji, the minute he sees her (Aishwarya), it’s like he’s looking at Shweta coming home. His eyes light up. She’ll fill the vacuum that Shweta left. We have never been able to adjust that Shweta is not in the family, she is out and she is not a Bachchan. It’s tough.”

In the same conversation, Jaya also lauded her daughter-in-law, Aishwarya for being extremely responsible in all of her work. The doting sasu maa mentioned how her bahu, despite being a big star in the industry, also gives equal importance to her family. Jaya added:
“She is lovely, I love her. She is such a big star herself and she has fitted in so well. She is a strong lady and she has a lot of dignity.”
In another old interview with Rediff, Jaya was asked about her approach to handle disagreements between herself and her daughter-in-law, Aishwarya. To this, Jaya revealed that Aishwarya is her buddy and mentioned that she does not engage in politics behind her bahu’s back. In addition, whatever disagreements occur between Jaya and Aishwarya, they inform the other straightforwardly. In Jaya's words:
“She is my buddy. If I don’t like something about her, I tell it to her face. I don’t do politics behind her back. If she disagrees with me, she expresses herself. The only difference is that I can be a little more dramatic and she has to be more respectful.”

On April 1, 2023, Aishwarya Bachchan was spotted along with her daughter, Aaradhya Bachchan as they arrived on the second day of the NMACC launch, unlike the regular time, when the mother-daughter duo used to grace the events with Abhishek Bachchan. Thus, as per a report in POPxo, gossipmongers started speculating about the couple’s separation. The rumours claimed that Aishwarya was living separately with Aaradhya due to issues with her in-laws, especially her mother-in-law, Jaya Bachchan and sister-in-law, Shweta Bachchan. This was the reason which created a difference between Aishwarya and Abhishek, and he didn't appear at the NMACC event along with his wife and daughter.
