Veteran star, Poonam Dhillon is one of the most gorgeous actresses of her time. She has worked in many films since 1978, and if reports are to be believed, she is the pioneer of bringing the vanity van business to India. She has also talked about the same in an old TV interview. She recalled avoiding drinking water for hours, so she didn't have to use the loo. Afterwards, when she first saw the vanity van concept in Los Angeles, the actress was so impressed that she decided to bring it to India. It happened that she met a friend over there on a shooting set, and Poonam's friend took her inside the latter's vanity, which allured the Indian actress towards the swanky vans.
In 1991, Poonam partnered with a company to launch 25 vanity vans and made history when she launched her first mobile makeup van, 'Vanity'. Initially, the film's producer felt that it was a waste of money. However, gradually the concept was loved by many Bollywood actors, including Anil Kapoor and Sridevi, when they were filming, Roop Ki Rani Choron Ka Raja and the vanity van was used in this film.

Shilpa Shetty Kundra's swanky vanity van is one-of-a-kind and is counted amongst some of the most luxurious vans in the industry. It includes a lounge area, a yoga deck, a foldable chair, and some kettlebells for the fitness enthusiast. The deluxe ride also features a kitchenette filled with accessories like a microwave oven, chimney, and various cutleries, a private chamber, a modern bathroom with a hair wash station, a mini washroom, a hair and makeup room and a mini wardrobe. Moreover, the van has black exteriors and the actress' initials, SSK, embossed in the middle of its grille.
One of the most popular Tollywood stars, Mahesh Babu is known for having some of the most prized possessions in the industry. Coming to his swanky vanity van, Mahesh had spent a hefty amount of Rs. 6.2 crores to buy it. The vanity van is named Caravan and is facilitated with lush amenities, including a living space, a bedroom, a rehearsal room, an entertainment system, a workstation, a meeting room, a restroom, and many other luxurious items.
Shah rukh khan’s vanity van is designed by ace car designer, Dilip Chhabria in 2009 and named Palace on Wheels. The van's design is based on a dual system for everything, and new software has been created and programmed on the computer, converting all switches to touch screens controlled by an iPad. The 14-meter-long vanity van is a Volvo 9BR and costs SRK around Rs. 4 to 5 crores.
It features a gym, living area, bedroom, and a restroom. In addition, it is equipped with a flatscreen, an inbuilt shower, a hydraulic system, an electric chair and more, and the van is decked with a glass finish and wooden ceilings. Moreover, it can be extended once it is parked, which is done to provide more room. According to reports, the van also becomes a celebrity party hotspot during after-hours.
Designed by ace designer, Gauri Khan, Alia Bhatt's vanity van gives a boho vibe altogether. Well, the actress has two vanity vans, and another one is designed by a French production designer, Rupin Suchak. And the second one had a French kind of theme with muslin curtains and more. Alia’s first van was priced at Rs. 48 lakhs, and the second cost around Rs. 75 lakhs because it has a lot of specifications. Gauri's designed van features a small kitchen, a washroom, a neon-lit corner, a comfy single-size bed, and more. In addition, in a picture shared by her, a grand walk-in closet and a white and brown-toned dressing room with neatly stacked footwear shelves and a rack full of designer clothes were also spotted.
One of Alia's vans is also decorated with quirky decor, colourful cushions, a Pinterest board, geometrically divided reflective glass panels, party-like purple lights, a statement art piece, rustic and vintage books (that were also a part of her former home in Juhu that she shared with her sister, Shaheen Bhatt) and wooden flooring, giving a perfect millennial vibe. Anushka Sharma’s vanity van is indeed one of the most minimally designed and hosts a simplistic approach. However, it is an appropriate personification of her personality by being a fuss-free area for her to get ready and travel to places during her shoots with a homely feeling.
