Supriya Pathak, is without a doubt, one of the finest actors, whom we have been delighted to watch on the silver screen. In a time of typical saas-bahu television dramas, Supriya has won hearts with her unconventional acting. Be it playing a humorous character of 'Hansa' or a ruthless character of 'Dhankor Ba', she has never truly left the pitch. On the personal front, Supriya had tied the knot with the once-married man and popular actor, Pankaj Kapur in 1998. And together, they have beautiful kids named Sanah Kapur and Ruhaan Kapur.
For the unversed, Pankaj was previously hitched to actress, Neliima Azeem and together, they had welcomed Shahid Kapoor into this world. Now, in a recent interview, Supriya opened up about her struggle of looking for a dream house with her husband while being short on money. She also revealed why her daughter, Sanah Kapur, who recently got married to Mayank Pahwa, chose to have the simplest wedding ever.
In a conversation with the Hindustan Times, Supriya talked about her upcoming web series, Home Shanti, in which she will be playing a middle class retired principal. Meanwhile, Supriya recalled her own struggle to find a dream house with her hubby, Pankaj Kapur. The couple had always fallen 'a bit short of money', and the battle had continued for years. Mentioning how they had still managed to buy an affordable dream house, she stated:
"I remember when I and Pankaj ji were looking for a house. It was always the case that we were just a little bit short of money. It was a continuous struggle that we went through for so many years. My father-in-law used to say that we must not go for a rented house. It's better to pay instalments for a home loan than paying rent for a house which is not yours. When we took a loan, whatever money could have gone into rent, we paid that much in instalments. The house becomes such an important identity of yours because we all struggle to get it. It could never be affordable so we were just focussing on a likeable place."
Further, into the candid chat, Supriya shared why their children, Sanah Kapur and Ruhaan Kapur were super excited to shift their base from a rented apartment to a dream house. She revealed that her kids were not interested in anything else but one thing. Supriya can be quoted as saying:
"Your dream house may be different because you always aspire for more, like you want a garden or something or the other. In our case, we had to like a place and it had to be affordable. When we took this house, our kids Sanah and Ruhaan were very young. They were simply excited because they got their separate rooms. In our earlier house, they were sharing a room, in this one they had their individual rooms. So that was the biggest high, they weren't interested in anything else."
Pankaj Kapur and Supriya Pathak's daughter, Sanah Kapur had got married to the man of her dreams, Mayank Pahwa on March 2, 2022. From Pankaj walking his princess, Sanah to the aisle to her half brother, Shahid Kapoor, and his wife, Mira Rajput Kapoor, gracing the ceremony with their warm presence, Sanah and Mayank's wedding was indeed intimate yet too beautiful for words. In the same interview, the new mother-in-law, Supriya, was asked whether it was her or anyone else's idea to have a simple wedding. To which, she shared:
"It was completely Mayank and Sanah's idea. As they were going to do a new thing, all four of us (Pankaj Kapur, Supriya Pathak, Manoj Pahwa, Seema Pahwa) thought how will it happen. Their belief was very strong that this is how they wanted to do it. They were like 'we want to take our own vows, we want to make a promise to each other in front of our friends and family and we don't want anyone else'. I won't call it a wedding, it was an event. I think it worked out beautifully."
On the work front, Supriya will be next seen in her upcoming web series, Home Shanti, opposite her son-in-law, Mayank Pahwa's father and actor, Manoj Pahwa.
