In an unexpected turn of events, in the last few days, Hardik Pandya has been receiving a lot of flak as he decided to be the captain of his old team, Mumbai Indians, thereby taking over Rohit Sharma's place. However, Hardik's decision made the cricket fanatics extremely annoyed, and they started throwing tantrums at the player. Not just that, Hardik also received a lot of flak and abuse as his team failed to win the two matches they played in IPL 2024 so far.

Amid this heated atmosphere, Bollywood actor, Sonu Sood extended his support to the cricketer. Taking to his X (previously Twitter), Sonu Sood penned a long note and shared that people should respect the players who represent their country. The actor also added that it is disturbing how one day, the audience comes in support of a player, and the other day, they just start to boo the same person. Sonu further remarked that it doesn't matter for which franchise and in which position the cricketer is playing, but what is to be remembered is that the same person represents our country, so no matter what, they are our heroes.
Earlier, a video of Hardik Pandya went viral online, wherein he could be seen instructing Rohit Sharma to change his fielding position and go to the deep square leg. Moreover, Rohit was unable to understand if Hardik was indicating towards him, which is why he asked him the same. Later, when Hardik agreed Rohit moved backwards. This situation was not at all liked by the Hitman's fans, and they started criticising the current captain of MI.
Hardik Pandya took over Rohit Sharma's captaincy, and this was not the only reason he grabbed negative attention, as now MI fans have also turned their backs on the former as he was unable to secure the winner's position so far. Earlier, after MI lost the game against SRH, Hardik came to give an interview, and witnessing the same, netizens started throwing shoes and bottles at the giant screen. When Hardik was knocked out at the game against SRH, the entire stadium started chanting Rohit's name and booing at the former. On the other hand, Irfan Pathan also took to his X and tagged the young cricketer's captaincy as 'ordinary', as he was unable to understand why he did not assign bowling to Bumrah at the earliest.
The fire of the constant trolls on Hardik Pandya was further fanned as several videos of him from the match against SRH surfaced online. In one of the videos, a Sri Lankan player and MI's bowling coach, Lasith Malinga, tried to hug Hardik after SRH knocked down their team. Moreover, what left netizens irked was when Hardik seemingly shoved Malinga and dodged a hug from him.
