Rana Daggubati has been leading the headlines ever since he took a dig at Sonam Kapoor at an event for the film, King Of Kotha. Without naming anyone, the actor spoke about how a big Hindi cinema heroine wasted Dulquer Salmaan's time on the set of a film. However, the netizens lost no time speculating that Rana Daggubati was talking about Sonam Kapoor, and they started trolling the latter.
Following this, Rana Daggubati issued a clarification on X (formerly known as Twitter) and apologised to Sonam Kapoor and Dulquer Salmaan for his statement. The actor stated that his words were misinterpreted as he didn't mean to target anyone. Rana's tweet can be read as:
“I am genuinely troubled by the negativity that has been aimed at Sonam due to my comments, that are totally untrue and were meant entirely in a light-hearted manner. As friends, we often exchange playful banter, and I deeply regret that my words have been misinterpreted.”

Meanwhile, Sonam Kapoor added fuel to the ongoing matter and shared a cryptic post, taking a dig at Rana Daggubati. On August 16, 2023, Sonam dropped a quote from the former First Lady of the United States, Eleanor Roosevelt on her IG Stories, which reads, ‘Small minds discuss people; average minds discuss events; great minds discuss ideas'. Sharing the picture, Sonam penned:
“Just a little something I'd like some people to know… especially when discussing things about people that are made up."
Sonam Kapoor's cryptic post has created a meme fest on Reddit, and netizens are going crazy over the same. While one user penned, "So all her life, she has been one of the 'small minds' but now suddenly she is above all. Awww. Hailing Dulquer Salmaan's achievements, Rana recalled an incident which involved Dulquer and a top Bollywood actress. Revealing how the Hindi film heroine wasted Dulquer’s time, Rana said that the big heroine was engrossed in a phone conversation about shopping in London with her husband. He further added that since her lack of focus affected the shots, he couldn’t resist his anger, but Dulquer was calm. As soon as the video was shared on a Reddit thread, netizens were sure that the top Hindi film heroine was none other than actress, Sonam Kapoor.
