Bollywood actress, Shamita Shetty is known for her commendable acting sense. She was seen in a number of films and television shows, including Mohabbatein, Bewafaa, Bigg Boss, Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa, Fear Factor: Khatron Ke Khiladi 9, and many more. In addition, the 44-year-old actress's beauty and elegance never miss a chance to win millions of hearts. However, as per nature's rule, many women hit the menopause phase post their 40s and so was doubted by Shamita, when she suffered some complications. Now, in an interview, Shamita revealed the same.
In a conversation with Etimes, Shamita Shetty opened up about her rigorous fitness regime and how she takes the best care of her health. Despite all of this, a certain weight gain and other perimenopause symptoms, including hot flushes and others, were felt by Shamita. Thus, she thought about hitting the menopause soon and underwent a few tests. Shamita said:
"I’ve always taken care of my workout and diet. So being fit is a big part of who I am. But I kept putting on weight for a year and half and couldn’t understand why. I was constantly trying to look for ways to conceal my weight. I kept getting hot flushes and ended up thinking I was hitting menopause. But my doctor made me undergo a few tests, which showed that it wasn’t that. I chanced upon a video about perimenopause on social media and read some articles on it. When I spoke to my female friends, some of them had the same symptoms and others had more severe ones."
Further, Shamita mentioned that she was at ease when finally she could diagnose the real problem. She mentioned all her anxiousness and confusion were gone when, finally, her medical tests came fine. Then, with the help of her trainer, she lost 3 kgs of weight in two months and shared:
"Once I understood the problem, I felt at ease. Before that it can get overwhelming, since your body is behaving differently but all medical reports show up fine, and this can leave you anxious and confused. My trainer helped me out with the right diet and workout routine. I had put on about 5 kg and it took me two months to lose 3 kg."
In the same conversation, Shamita mentioned how she found support and motivation from her sister, Shilpa Shetty and a few of her friends. Although, she revealed crying on days when her body wasn't feeling right, she mentioned how she found peace after hitting the gym. She also did some blood tests and exercised to regain her confidence. Shamita concluded:
"Speaking with my sister and friends helped me understand perimenopause better. The gym has always been my happy place but there were times when I just didn’t feel like working out. I would cry because my body was not feeling right. It’s important to get the necessary blood tests done and check your vitamin levels. Workouts really helped me. So, hit the gym, be it weight training, cardio, kickboxing or yoga. Exercising helps keep stress levels in check. Just love and accept yourself."
Time and again, Shamita has opened up about an array of things related to her life. For instance, in an old interview with ZoomTV, Shamita was asked how she handles social media trolling and excessive negativity. To this, Shamita promptly answered that she completely ignores them. However, she also sometimes checks the comments who constantly robe in her posts and pen down mean comments. Talking about one such instance, Shamita shared how people always mentioned that she should get married at a certain age, stop working and settle down.
