Bollywood's superstar, Shah Rukh Khan and his wife, Gauri Khan are hailed as the power couple in B-Town. For the unversed, Shah Rukh and Gauri got married in 1991 after dating each other for almost six years. The duo was blessed with their first son, Aryan Khan in 1997, and later, their daughter, Suhana Khan was born in 2000. Years later, their family got completed with the arrival of their youngest son, AbRam Khan, who was born in 2013, via surrogacy. The adorable family resides in their luxurious home, Mannat.
Shah Rukh Khan's wife and interior designer, Gauri Khan recently launched her coffee table book, My Life In Design, and the actor has revealed some interesting details about Gauri in the foreword of the book. On April 20, 2023, a Twitter user shared some screenshots of the foreword in which SRK talked about Gauri's design journey. He revealed that when they bought their first house, they were expecting their first child, Aryan Khan and wrote:
"It all started when we bought our first home in Mumbai, Needless to say, it was beyond our means, but we needed a living space, because we were expecting Aaryan. So, the choice was made, that we would try and buy stuff for the house as and when we had the money. We could not afford a designer so the job was taken over by Gauri.”

However, since things were really expensive so the couple decided to buy the stuff one by one and do their home's interiors. But when they went to buy a sofa, it was way too expensive for them. Therefore, Gauri designed a sofa in her notebook and waited for a carpenter to make a similar one. Revealing the same, SRK penned:
“We once went to buy a sofa, but since it was too expensive, we just bought the leather for the sofa on one of my travels and waited for some carpenter to build what Gauri had designed in a notebook. This went on for some years, and as things started looking up for us, we went on to buy a bigger home, Mannat."
Further, SRK recalled that when they bought Mannat, they had spent all their money on buying the house, which resulted in a financial crunch. So, Gauri donned the hat of a designer, but the task of designing her own house was rather big. However, Gauri trained herself to understand spaces and learned how to figure out the basic amenities and logistics to make a home. In his words:
"The story was the same, that we had spent all our money on the property and had none left for the interiors. So again, by default, Gauri became our interior designer. Slowly, what started as a necessity turned into a passion."
Earlier, in a conversation with Vogue India, Gauri Khan opened up about her coffee table book, My Life in Design, and shared the design process of her house, Mannat. Talking about the same, she shared that as people have always been excited to get a sneak peek into SRK's luxurious home, her book would be a great chance for them to get exclusive glimpses of her family residence. In her words:
“A lot of people—Shah Rukh’s fans especially—have wondered what lies behind the gated walls of Mannat. I would like the readers of this coffee table book to chip in and tell me what work they like more than others, since there are a lot of unseen pictures in the book.”
