Sanjay Dutt is one of the most phenomenal actors of his generation in Indian cinema. The talented artist has delivered some of the greatest hits at the box-office, which are helmed as classics even today. He is the son of late Sunil Dutt and Nargis, and made his debut in the 1981-film, Rocky. In his personal life, the actor is married to Maanayata Dutt and they are blessed with twins, Shahraan and Iqra. Sanjay is also father to his daughter, Trishala, from his first marriage with Richa Sharma.
For the unversed, Sanjay Dutt was extremely close to his parents, Sunil Dutt and Nargis, who had always been his pillar of strength in some of the most tumultuous times of his life. From his phase of drug addiction in his youth to his jail under the TADA act post involvement in the 1993 serial terrorist blasts in Mumbai, his parents have never left a stone unturned to bring him back to the right path of life. As a token of respect, on January 12, 2024, Sanjay was spotted at the Vishnupad Temple in Gaya, where he performed pind daan ceremony for his late parents and ancestors. The actor wore a white kurta-pyjama as he performed the rituals.

A few days back, Sanjay Dutt appeared on the popular singing reality show, Indian Idol 14, wherein he was asked by the judge, Shreya Ghoshal to spill a few anecdotes about his parents and talented actors, Nargis and Sunil Dutt. To this, the actor turned emotional and remarked how for the longest he took his parents for granted as he felt they were always with him. Moreover, he recalled a moment wherein his mother, Nargis, used to ask him to sit and spend time with her, something which he did not do back then and now regretted not doing at all. In his words:
“We take our parents for granted. We feel, ‘Mummy papa hain aur humesha rahenge. My mother said something to me, which I remember now. She used to say, ‘Sanjay mere saath baith, mere saath time guzaar'. Because when I am gone, you will feel very bad. Now, I feel had I listened to her and would have spent a few hours with her during the day, I would not have this feeling.”
After the demise of his parents, Sanjay Dutt is closely guarded by his two sisters, Priya Dutt and Namrata Dutt. While the two ladies do not usually prefer making a public appearance, it was back during Raksha Bandhan in 2023, when Sanjay dropped a priceless picture with his sisters, and called them his pillars of strength.

Back on May 3, 2023, Sanjay Dutt took to his IG handle and shared a throwback picture with his mother, Nargis Dutt on her death anniversary. The glimpse featured a baby Sanjay along with his mommy and his younger sister, Priya. While Nargis adored her daughter, it was Sanjay’s protective gesture for his sister that won hearts. Along with it, the actor penned a note which read as:
“Miss you, Maa! Your love and warmth continue to guide me every day, and I am forever grateful for the lessons you taught me."
