Ranbir Kapoor is currently basking in the success of one of the blockbusters of his career, Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s film, Animal. The hit film has broken several box office records, making Ranbir a superstar nationwide. However, the film also received severe criticism from the audience for its story and themes, but it didn't affect the craze to watch it. Animal showcases the fractured relationship between a father and son. Amid the film's success, a video of Ranbir with his real-life father, Rishi Kapoor, from an event, has gone viral on social media.

Old video of Rishi Kapoor and Ranbir Kapoor resurfaces

Recently, an old clip of Ranbir Kapoor and his parents, Rishi and Neetu Kapoor, from an event was shared on Reddit. The video starts with Ranbir greeting his father, Rishi, with "Hi Papa". After a brief pause, Rishi addressed the media present there and said that he and his son, Ranbir lived in separate homes. The late actor added that it was a coincidence that they both came to the event at the same time and were posing together. He was heard saying:

Ranbir Kapoor had no complaints about moving out of his family home

Rishi Kapoor's revelation shocked the media, but Ranbir handled the awkward situation smartly. He immediately quipped, “Complain nahi hai”. Further in the video, Ranbir approached his mother, Neetu Kapoor, and complimented her. The candid moment between the mother-son duo spoke volumes about their love for each other. Soon, Ranbir moved out of the frame.

Later, Rishi Kapoor got angry at someone from the press and yelled, “Ye Inka chilana kaun sunega? Pahle woh chillana band kare.” Then, he went on to pose with his family and looked a bit annoyed. Rishi again snapped out at the media and said, “Andha Hai Kya?” Rishi's behaviour left Neetu and Ranbir embarrassed, and the duo walked off the stage.

When Rishi Kapoor regretted screwing his relationship with Ranbir Kapoor

Earlier, during an interview with Mumbai Mirror in 2015, Rishi Kapoor talked about his son, Ranbir’s decision to move out of the family home and expressed his feelings about the same. The late actor mentioned that he got his space when he got married to Neetu Kapoor, so he was okay with Rabir moving out of the house. Admitting that he had screwed his relationship with his son, Rishi added:

“My father gave me space when I moved out after marriage, and I give Ranbir his space too when he decided to move out and share a home with his girlfriend. In this house, he had one room: how could that be enough for a 33-year-old boy? He’s a great son, he listens to me, but I don’t interfere in his career because my career is mine and his is his. I know I’ve screwed up my relationship with Ranbir even though my wife kept telling me about what I was doing."

Further, Rishi told the publication how it was too late for him to mend his relationship with his son, Ranbir Kapoor and mentioned that the latter didn't live with them anymore. However, the doting dad also shared that they were building a new home where Ranbir could stay with his family and added:

"It’s now too late to change it; both of us will not be able to adjust to the change. It’s like there’s this glass wall, we can see each other, we can talk, but that’s it. He doesn’t live with us anymore, which is also a very big setback to Neetu and me. We’re building a new home where there will be a lot of place for him and his family. Till then, life goes on.”
