Richa Chadha Talks About Her Interfaith Registered Marriage With Ali: 'No One Cares About People'

Bollywood actress, Richa Chadha opened up about her interfaith marriage with her husband, Ali Fazal and revealed if they were bothered by society's thoughts on their union.

Richa Chadha and her darling husband, Ali Fazal are hailed as the most amazing couples in the entertainment. The much-in-love couple never leaves a chance to paint the town red with their mushy romance and cutesy camaraderie. For the unversed, Richa and Ali met for the time on the sets of their film, Fukrey and eventually fell in love with each other. After a few years of courtship, the duo exchanged vows in a secret court marriage in 2020. And it was only in 2022, when Richa and Ali revealed being married and celebrated their union with their loved ones.

In an interview with News 18, Richa Chadha opened up about her interfaith marriage with her husband, Ali Fazal and how anyone's thoughts on their union didn't bother them. The actress mentioned that she and Ali both belong to liberal families, and they never felt any pressure from their families regarding their interfaith union. In her words:

"No once cares about people and what they think. And I come from a very liberal, lovely family. Ali comes from a very liberal, progressive family. We are both middle-class people. And we had a fantastic time. No one put pressure on us. And if they did, we didn't take any pressure."

In the same conversation, Richa spoke about her peaceful registered marriage and stated that she and Ali tied the knot under the Special Marriage Act. Mentioning that getting married in a court is quite an ordinary thing, and it's the media that makes a facade out of it, Richa said:

"We got married under the Special Marriage Act, the family court is right around the corner. And it was super peaceful. And I don't think it's out of the ordinary. It happened in society, which is why there is a very big act of it. Of course, I feel like media really makes these kinds of things, it's actually terrible and is very corrosive for society."

When Richa talked about her and Alia's courtship period

Earlier, in a conversation with News18, Richa had opened up about her upcoming film, Fukrey 3 and, walked down memory lane. The diva reminisced some beautiful moments from the sets of her and Ali Fazal's film, Fukrey. The actress also recalled how she and her husband, Ali began dating each other while shooting for the film and stated that they used to meet once every month and hang out a lot. In her words:

"We used to hang out a lot. We would meet once every month. This was in 2013. We would keep meeting each other in one way or the other, be it at screenings or over meals at our friends' homes. After hanging out so much, we soon realised that we can go out on a date or two and see what happens next. That's how it started. I didn't tell anyone about Ali and Myself."

When Richa and Ali revealed that they secretly got married in 2020

For the unversed, it was on September 29, 2022, when Richa and Ali had announced their secret wedding. The lovebirds dropped a voice note on their respective IG handles and revealed that they got married in 2020 but couldn't celebrate their union because of the pandemic. The duo also mentioned that they waited two years to formalise their union with their family and friends. The voice note began with Richa saying, "Two years ago we formalised our union, and just then the pandemic hit us all." Further, Ali added, "Like the rest of the nation, we too were struck by personal tragedies one after the other."
