Getting married is a dream, we all anxiously wait for it since the day we turn 25 or when we meet our soulmates. From dusk to dawn, we want every detail of our wedding to be perfect. But the year 2020 has ruined many couples' dream of turning 'Mister and Missus' because of the lockdown due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The health crisis has changed the way we live and our plans. A couple of weeks ago, Richa had shared her state of mind that 2020 had left her with. She had shared a hilarious meme on her Instagram handle from her film, Gangs of Wasseypur, wherein her character, Nagma Khatoon, was sitting quietly during her nikaah and the qazi repeatedly was asking her if she agreed to her wedding with Manoj Bajpayee’s character, Sardar Khan, but she didn't utter a word. She had captioned the post as "#8YearsOfGangsOfWasseypur 2020 saw me postponing my shaadi, rightly so, cuz this is such an unpredictable, manhoos year! Here’s some #NagmaSwag for you, from the film that started it all for me! Enjoy. #NagmaKhatoon #GangsOfWasseypur #ActorsLife #richachadda #GangsOfWasseypur #AKFPL".
The couple was said to tie the knot in April 2020, but the lockdown due to the COVID-19 outbreak has ruined their plans. Recently, Richa and Ali were on the cover of Brides Today magazine for their July edition. On June 30, 2020, Richa and Ali took to their respective Instagram handles and shared the picture of the same. In the cover, the duo looked stunning as they posed for the lens. Richa donned a purple-hued saree while Ali wore a lavender-coloured indo-western ensemble. Alongside the picture, Ali dedicated the cover to his later mother and wrote, "Richa Chadha (@therichadha) wears a sari and blouse, *Jayanti Reddy* (@jayantireddylabel) at Ensemble. Necklaces, *Rare Heritage.* (@rareheritage) Ali Fazal (@alifazal9) wears a sherwani and kurta, *Raghavendra Rathore* (@raghavendra.rathore) Ring, his own. Fashion intern: Yashna Jain (@kouchpotateaux) Location: JW Marriott Mumbai Sahar (@jwsahar) Ali Fazal’s team ( @whimsicalfantasy @hardlyanonymous_2.0 ) For mom." Check it out below:
In an interview with the Mumbai Mirror, Ali Fazal had opened up on the reason for postponing the wedding and had said, "It has been delayed until further notice. I think we will celebrate with the world when everything is open again. We have something to celebrate... some good news hopefully, that everyone will get and we’ll make sure to bring that along with our wedding. Until then, we’re following all the rules of the lockdown and awaiting the next steps." When Ali's mother had passed away, Richa had penned a heartwarming note as an ode to her. It could be read as "Love at a dead-end is grief... RIP! Aunty, you left us yesterday... but you will always be around... I will always remember you as a lady ahead of her time... a voracious reader, feminist and cupcake lover. I promise to take care of your son... hope you find your peace... And I miss you already! Rest in peace Aunty, I am grateful that I got to know you! Ali, be brave. She wouldn’t have liked to see you sad! 2020, this better be the last remembrance msg I write! Rest in peace Aunty."
