In November 2022, the 154-year-old Tata Group witnessed the induction of three millennials into the board of the group’s philanthropic organization. The millennials were none other than Ratan Tata’s half-brother, Noel Tata’s kids, Neville Tata, Leah Tata and Maya Tata. The three siblings are reportedly groomed under Ratan Tata. The youngest of them is Maya Tata, who is leading the headlines as the youngest successor of the Tata Group. Let’s take a look at the educational as well as professional qualifications of Maya Tata.

Maya Tata is one of the few lesser-known names of the Tata family. The younger daughter of Noel Tata and Aloo Mistry, Maya Tata joined Tata Digital, which recently launched Tata Neu App. Just like her siblings, Maya has been working in different capacities at the Tata Group.
Maya Tata entered the business field at quite a young age because of her keen interest in new-age analytics and technology. Maya received her education from the University of Warwick, UK, and Bayes Business School.
Maya Tata started her career with Tata Opportunities Fund, which was the oldest private equity fund of the Tata Group. As per the Economic Times, Maya used to handle portfolio management and investor relations at the Tata Opportunities Fund until its closure. After its closure, Maya Tata moved to Tata Digital as her father, Noel Tata was keen for her to stay in the group. It was when Maya joined Tata Digital that the company launched the Tata Neu app, which was designed to offer its customers an extensive shopping experience.

And recently, the youngest successor of the Tata family, Maya is appointed as one of the trustees of Tata Medical Center Trust, along with her siblings, Neville and Leah. The Trust runs the Kolkata Cancer Hospital, which Ratan Tata started in May 2011.
The appointment of Noel Tata’s children to the board has brought Ratan Tata and Noel Tata’s relationship into the limelight. Ratan Tata’s father, Naval Tata was adopted into the family by Navajbai and Sir Ratanji Tata. Naval Tata got married to Soonoo Commissariat with whom he had two sons, Ratan Tata and Jimmy Tata.
After some years, Naval Tata and Soonoo Tata got separated, and Naval went on to marry, Simone Dunoyer. Simone was a Swiss national and met Naval when she was traveling to India. Naval and Simone had a son, whom they named, Noel Tata, who is Ratan Tata’s half-brother. Later, Noel got married to Aloo Mistry, daughter of Pallonji Mistry and sister of Cyrus Mistry. Noel and Aloo have three children, Neville, Leah and Maya.
Once in an interview with Humans of Bombay, Ratan Tata talked about his childhood moments. He shared that he had a happy childhood, but when his parents got divorced, he faced a lot of discomfort and rage. Ratan Tata also experienced a lot of bullying after his mother's second marriage and his classmate would tease him for the same. However, it was his grandmother, who helped him overcome it. He had shared:
"I had a happy childhood, but as my brother & I got older, we faced a fair bit of ragging & personal discomfort because of our parent’s divorce, which in those days wasn’t as common. But my grandmother brought us up in every way. Soon after when my mother remarried, the boys at school started saying all kinds of things about us–constantly & aggressively. But our grandmother taught us to retain dignity at all costs, a value that’s stayed with me until today. It involved walking away from these situations, which otherwise we would’ve fought back against."

Naval Tata and Soonoo Tata’s son, Jimmy Tata loves a low-key life, away from the media glares. If the reports are to be believed, Jimmy Tata lives in a 2BHK flat in Mumbai's Colaba area. He rarely makes public appearances, which is why there aren’t a lot of pictures of him on the internet. Jimmy, who is reportedly a brilliant squash player, was never interested in the family business.
Talking about Jimmy Tata’s share in the Tata Sons, as per a report in The Times Of India, he possesses 3,262 ordinary shares with the company. After the demise of Naval Tata in 1989, Jimmy inherited his father’s position as the trustee of Sir Ratan Tata Trust.
Despite hailing from such an influential family, Neville, Leah and Maya keep a low profile and don't flaunt their names. It is also reported that their father, Noel has given strict instructions to their respective companies to treat them as regular employees. It is certain that under Ratan Tata's guidance, the trio will take the pride and legacy of the Tata Group to greater heights.
