It was during the promotion of Animal at the Unstoppable with NBK when Ranbir Kapoor dropped a major hint about Vijay and Rashmika's dating. However, during the interview, Rashmika was asked to choose between Animal and Arjun Reddy. However, when the actress refused to answer, Ranbir told NBK to ask Rashmika to call Vijay. However, the actress did the same. And when Vijay picked up the phone, Rashmika warned him that he was on speaker. While answering, Rashmika said she has a connection with Arjun Reddy, while Animal is her film. Later, Ranbir shared that Sandeep Reddy first met Rashmika at Arjun Reddy’s success party on Vijay’s terrace, which was enough to spark the duo's dating rumours.
It was during Diwali when Vijay Deverakonda posted a bunch of photos from his low-key Diwali celebration at his home. Later, Rashmika posted a cutesy photo of herself, wherein she was dolled up in a powdered-blue-hued jute saree. With light makeup, open hair, and bindi, Rashmika finalised her Diwali look. However, what caught all the attention was the rumoured couple's similar kind of caption, wherein she wrote, "Happy Diwali my loves." However, as soon as the duo posted the photos, netizens pointed out the similarities between the backgrounds and speculated if the duo was together.
