Ranbir Kapoor’s personal life has been a major topic of gossip in Tinseltown for a long time now. The actor has been in multiple relationships, before he finally tied the knot with Alia Bhatt in 2022. However, amongst all his exes, it is his past with Deepika Padukone that has often grabbed the spotlight. Well, it all started when Deepika once revealed how she was cheated on by Ranbir, who by then was dating Katrina Kaif. Moreover, Deepika has also frequently narrated tales of suffering from depression from her breakup with Ranbir, and being in the lowest phase of her career and personal life as a result. However, years later, Ranbir and Deepika came together a second time for their film, Yeh Jawani Hai Deewani, where they chose to forego their past and restart their bonding as friends.
Back in 2010, Sonam Kapoor and Deepika Padukone had graced the controversial chat show, Koffee With Karan, where they spilled some juicy gossip about their lives. But what stood out amongst it all, was when the duo levied some severe allegations about Ranbir Kapoor. Well, while Deepika had a bitter past with Ranbir by that time, when he cheated on her, Sonam too didn’t mince her words and took a sarcastic dig at the actor’s personal life and frequent relationships. For the unversed, while Deepika revealed that Ranbir should endorse a condom brand, Sonam, on the contrary, stated her opinion that Ranbir might be a good friend, but she couldn’t consider him a great boyfriend.

Taking to the discussion portal, Reddit, a user recently shared an old interview of Ranbir Kapoor with Simi Garewal. In the interaction, the latter asked the actor about his reaction to the statements Deepika and Sonam made about him. In his response, Ranbir mentioned how he was shocked to learn about their statements after the show aired, since after all he was present during the shoot of the particular episode. He even added how, after the shoot, the two actresses met him in the trailer van and spoke very nicely to him. In his words:
“Honestly, I was there. The day they were shooting the episode, I offcourse was in my trailer van. And after they finished the episode, both of them came to my trailer van and they were really sweet to me, and they were talking to me. I wasn’t aware what was happening. But I think after the episode was aired, there was lot of hoopla around me about this episode. I didn’t really take it that negatively, I wasn’t that hurt.”
Furthermore, Ranbir specifically reacted to each of the statements made against him by the actresses. Speaking about Deepika, Ranbir mentioned how he still respected the beautiful past relationship he shared with her. Moreover, he admitted all the angst she had against him, and expressed how it would have been more graceful if she told these to him personally, rather than on a public platform. Ranbir can be quoted as:
“I still respect Deepika a lot. I had a beautiful relationship with her. She has some angst against me, I think it would have been more graceful of her if she could pick up the phone and speak to me about it, rather than speaking on a public platform. She didn’t do that. But still, I still respect her and wish her all the best in her life.”

In his concluding statement, Ranbir also responded to the allegations made by Sonam Kapoor in the show, where she mocked his past relationships and took a dig at him for being a bad boyfriend. In response, Ranbir shared that he didn’t know why Sonam said such things about him, but nevertheless he didn’t mind any of it. In his words:
“Sonam, I have no idea why she said the things she did. But its fine, you know, if people wanna make fun of me, people wanna ridicule me in some way or the other, its their life. I can’t really say anything about it.”

As soon as the video was re-shared, eagle eyed netizens took note of the same and began expressing their views on the same. Well, a major section of the netizens sided with Ranbir, and labelled the actresses as double-faced, since they spoke ill about him, and pretended to be friends in front of him. Some others criticised Sonam for making random statements about Ranbir, just for grabbing the spotlight. Moreover, one user even dug out an old picture of Ranbir, while he was present during the shoot of the particular episode of Koffee With Karan.
