Actress, Pratyusha Banerjee had won the hearts of millions of people and her character 'Anandi' in the television show, Balika Vadhu. Her role had such an impact across the nation that it had become a household name. The young and talented actress had gained a lot of popularity at a very young age. But, little had she and her fans known that destiny had something else in store for her.
After her massive success from Balika Vadhu, Pratyusha had found love in the model, Rahul Raj Singh. On April 1, 2016, news of her suicide had hit the headlines, and everyone was taken aback when such a young life was lost at the age of 24. Post her death, a lot of controversies had made it to the news where her strained relationship with her then-boyfriend, Rahul Raj Singh, was blamed as the primary reason behind her suicide.
In an interview with Aaj Tak, Pratyusha Banerjee's father, Shankar Banerjee, opened up on being left penniless after fighting for her case relentlessly. He said, "After this accident, it seems as if some terrible storm has come and has taken everything away from us. We did not have a single penny left with us. We have lost everything while fighting in the second case."
Going further in the interview, Pratyusha's father revealed that the case has drained them completely, and they have been forced to live in a single room. He said, "We are now forced to live in one room. This case took away everything from us. Many times, there has been a situation where we were forced to take loans." He also stated that his wife is working in a child care centre, and he is earning his living by writing stories, but they won't give up on seeking justice for Pratyusha.
Earlier, in an explosive interview with SpotboyE, Rahul Raj Singh had blamed Pratyusha Banerjee's parents' greed as the reason behind her suicide. Stating the same, he had said, "The Covid pandemic has prolonged the case much longer than it should have. I am waiting for the day when the court will clear my name. I know I am not guilty. I didn’t kill Pratyusha, her parents’ greed killed her. She was unable to satiate their endless demands. I tried to save her, not kill her."
In the same interview, Rahul had shared the whereabouts of Pratyusha's parents and had said that everyone in Jamshedpur knew about their daughter's exploitation. He had told the entertainment portal, "They are in Mumbai living in shabby quarters with no income. Their golden goose is no more. They can’t go back to their hometown Jamshedpur. Everyone there knows how they exploited their daughter.”
Here's hoping that Pratyusha Banerjee's parents can get justice for her.
