The government of India uploaded the official list of 132 recipients who will be honoured with the Padma Awards this year. Several renowned names from different sectors were mentioned in the list. For the unversed, 5 Padma Vibhushan, 17 Padma Bhushan, and 110 Padma Shri awards are announced in this year's list. People from different fields like public affairs, social work, art, literature, medicine, and so many others were named as the recipients of these prestigious awards.
Talking about the legends, who were mentioned in the list of this year's Padma Awards are the likes of Chiranjeevi Konidela, Vyjayantimala Bali, Padma Subrahmanyam, Mithun Chakraborty, Dattatray Ambadas Mayaloo alias Rajdutt, Pyarelal Sharma, Usha Uthup, Vijaykanth, Khalil Ahamad, Badrappan M, Naseem Bano, Gita Roy Barman, Balakrishnan Sadanam Puthiya Veetil, and many more.

For the unversed, Chiranjeevi Konidela and Vyjayantimala Bali are bestowed with the second-highest civilian award, Padma Vibhushan. Other than them, Mithun Chakraborty, Pyarelal Sharma, Usha Uthup, and the late Vijaykanth were awarded the Padma Bhushan award.
As soon as Chiranjeevi Konidela received the news of his name being mentioned in the list of Padma Awards, the megastar admitted that he was overwhelmed and grateful. Giving a humble response to his achievement, Chiranjeevi stated that he still thinks that he had not done enough to win the prestigious Padma Vibhushan Award. The legendary actor's response won everyone's hearts and once again proved why he is loved and respected by millions across the world.
Legendary singer, Usha Uthup, who was bestowed with the Padma Bhushan Award, shared her thoughts about the same in a conversation with a news channel. The iconic singer admitted that she was thrilled and super-excited to know she would receive such an honourable award from the President. Recalling her struggling days, Usha Uthup revealed that she first started at a nightclub and from there, she went on to sing timeless classics like Hare Rama, Hare Krishna, and Hari Om Hari. She said:
"I started as a nightclub singer, and I am still proud of that. All my songs have God's name in it - 'Hare Rama, Hare Krishna, Hari Om Hari'."

Out of all the winners, it was the late legendary actor and politician, Vijayakanth, whose name in the list of Padma Awards 2024 made everyone emotional. The iconic actor was honoured with the Padma Bhushan posthumously for his incredible contribution to Indian cinema. For the unversed, the late actor had worked in 154 films and was a megastar of Tamil cinema. Unfortunately, he passed away on December 28, 2023, due to pneumonia. His untimely death left a huge void in South Indian cinema, which will be there till the end of time.
