The much-awaited trailer of Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Avneet Kaur starrer Tiku Weds Sheru is out, and the film is already garnering a lot of attention. Produced by Kangana Ranaut under her banner, Manikarnika Films, the film marks Avneet Kaur’s debut in Bollywood. The film talks about an unusual love story of a struggling junior actor in Mumbai and his bride.
As the film’s trailer got released, netizens got a glimpse of Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Avneet Kaur’s chemistry. However, their lip-lock in the film shocked the viewers and many called out the makers for the same. The 49-year-old Nawazuddin Siddiqui’s lip lock with 27 years younger Avneet shocked many. Some called it gross, while others tagged it as paedophilia.

The film, Tiku Weds Sheru is set to release on June 23, 2023, and is Kangana’s maiden production after the launch of her production house in 2020. The film, which is Kangana’s dream project is a dark satire, and the Queen actress wanted to cast Irrfan Khan in the lead initially. However, after Irrfan’s demise, Kangana reached out to Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Avneet Kaur.

The casting of Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Avneet Kaur sparked the age controversy as the lead had an age gap of 27 years. Kangana, in a media interaction, stated that she has overlooked the age gap as it is suited to the storyline. On the other hand, Avneet too shared her thoughts on the same and revealed that the controversy does not bother her as the character demanded a young actress.
On the trailer launch of the film on June 14, 2023, Avneet Kaur broke down into tears and revealed how she worked hard for the film. Thanking Kangana for giving her the opportunity, Avneet said:
“This is very special to me. I was just crying while watching the trailer. Just to say that, it’s my debut, and getting to do my first film with Nawaz Sir and Kangana Ma’am, is extremely big for me. When I got to know about this project, and when ma’am chose me as her Tiku, that was so special for me. I just wanted to prove, that I can and I will do justice to this character, because I know, Tiku is so close to her heart."
Avneet also talked about being extremely nervous during the shoot as she was sharing the screen space with Nawaz. Heaping praises on Kangana for treating her as one of her own, Avneet said:
"I have to say that, I was extremely nervous about sharing screen space with Nawaz. I still have that nervous. All I have to say is, thanks to Kangana Ma’am and Nawaz Sir for choosing me and for giving me this opportunity. I have really done a lot of hard work. She treated me like her own and she was there in each and every scene. I have rehearsed each and every scene with ma’am and Sir."
