Mona Singh rose to fame with her stint in the popular daily soap opera, Jassi Jaisi Koi Nahi. Her unusual portrayal of the character, ‘Jasmeet Walia’ received a lot of love from the audience, but for her as a person, Mona faced a lot of difficulties to etch the role. In her many revelations, Mona mentioned how she wasn’t allowed to shave or wax since she had to continue with that particular look for the character. Moreover, she wasn’t even allowed to reveal her real self.
In an interaction with Radio Nasha, Mona Singh recalled the time when she was shooting for her debut serial, Jassi Jaisi Koi Nahi and shared how, for an episode, they were visited by Shah Rukh Khan, along with his then-little children, Aryan Khan and Suhana Khan. Elaborating more on that incident, Mona reminisced a special compliment that she received from SRK. In her words:
“Shah Rukh Khan had come with his kids on the sets of Jassii Jaissi Koi Nahin. Tab Aryan chotu sa tha, Suhana choti si godh mai thi and Shah Rukh sir humare saamne khade the. I froze. And at that moment I was in Jassii’s costume. I kept on thinking in my mind with regret, he does not know how I look, I wanted him to know how I look. Shah Rukh sir came and told me, my kids love you. I was like, really? He said, they only eat their food after listening to your title track. I was just looking at him.”

Firsts are always special, and for Mona Singh as well, her first show has etched a special place in her heart, once and for all. In a previous interaction with The Indian Express, Mona had revealed how despite all the odds that she faced while filming her debut show, it would always remain special for her. Calling the character, ‘Jassi’ her second name, Mona had mentioned:
“It will always be a special show, and Jassi is my second name. Also, I cannot take that joy away from them, and I don’t even want to say that I am Mona, and not Jassi. The memory is so strong, and I too feel grateful about it. Something like this will never happen in a lifetime. I have gone on to do massive shows and movies but people feel happy calling me Jassi, and I am happy about that.”
In an earlier interaction with Mirchi Plus, Mona Singh had spoken about her debut show, Jassi Jaisi Koi Nahi and revealed some shocking facts about the same. She revealed how she wasn’t allowed to reveal her own self in public, and always had to carry the image of her character, ‘Jasmeet Walia’ everywhere. Moreover, she added how she wasn’t allowed to visit the salon and do her eyebrows or get waxed, so as to stay within the look of her character.

In one of her previous interviews with India Today, Mona had spoken about facing the casting couch in the industry, right when she was starting out. She revealed that back in that time, she used to travel from Pune to Mumbai and give auditions. Speaking more about it, Mona mentioned:
“I have. But that was, like, at the time, even before I got ‘Jassi…’. It was the time when I used to come from Pune to Bombay for auditions. I did meet a couple of people who made me feel uncomfortable and really weird and horrible."
